Where Journalism Collides With State ‘Security’: BBC News, MI5 And The Mantra Of ‘Keeping People Safe’ By David Cromwell

14 October 2013 — Media Lens

In our May 13 media alert we highlighted how the state, and a compliant media, relentlessly raise fears of the ‘shadows and threats’ that supposedly assail us. We make no apology for again citing the American writer H. L. Mencken: Continue reading this...

Nigeria: Hidden Histories By William Bowles

24 June 2006 — williambowles.info

Harold Smith, who died 3 January 2010 is almost unknown except for the few who are aware of his courageous and lifelong struggle to expose the murderous duplicity of British Imperialism in Nigeria. Smith, in 1960 then a novice, young colonial administrator in Nigeria attempted to expose the rigged and phoney ‘independence’ that the British had foisted on the Nigerian people. I wrote this back in 2006 and given all the current events in Africa, I felt it worthwhile reprinting it. There is also a followup piece, ‘Hidden histories confirmed: So much for the ‘Mother of Parliaments’‘, that I wrote a couple of years later. There is also a tribute page to Harold here. Video: Media Camouflage – Monsanto’s Alleged Cancer-Causing Additives to Milk By Brasscheck TV

12 October 2013 — Brasscheck TV

When it comes to food, it would be in your best interest to realize that you are being lied to on a daily basis. In some cases, this problem goes far beyond “garbage” into another realm entirely.

The NHS and You: The BBC wants to hear from you

10 October 2013 — Our NHS

[I’m not sure if responding to this BBC survey is worth the effort or not, but who knows? In any case, I’ve just completed it and zoomed it off. Perhaps, just perhaps, if enough of us respond, something might change, though the role of the BBC in propagandizing for the state is so crucial in preserving the status quo, the odds are against it. But it does reflect the fact that people are finally wising up to the role of BBC and the powers that be know this. WB]

The BBC is asking for your views on its news and current affairs coverage. This is a good chance to feedback any comments you may have on its coverage of the NHS.

Details of the review are here

It’s always best to cite examples of specific reports, and why you have concerns, rather than just say NHS coverage in general is biased.

Tilting At Easy Targets: Climate Change And The ‘Highly Ideological’ Liberal Mindset By David Cromwell

27 September 2013 — Media Lens

When a senior UN climate official warns that the world is ‘heading for a heart attack’ (The Times, September 23, 2013), there is clearly no time to lose in taking the radical action necessary to avert disaster. But we also have to understand why it is that no matter how many scientific warnings and ‘wake up calls’ are issued, we are still headed for climate chaos.

Homemade sarin was used in attack near Damascus – Lavrov

26 September 2013 — RT

Russia has enough evidence to assert that homemade sarin was used on August 21 in a chemical attack near Damascus, the same type but in higher concentration than in an Aleppo incident earlier this year, Russian FM Sergey Lavrov said.
