Kiev Elections Can’t Sanitise State of Mob Rule
25.10.2014 | 00:00 | Finian CUNNINGHAM
The Kiev regime’s parliamentary elections this weekend are set to go ahead amid an atmosphere of rampant political street violence and intimidation – and that’s not in the war-torn eastern part of Ukraine. The parliamentary elections were called in June by the then elected President Petro Poroshenko as a way of legitimising the illegal coup against the Ukrainian government that occurred four months previously with the support of the American Central Intelligence Agency… In the paraphrased words of Abraham Lincoln, no electoral process can sanitise the glaring fact of Kiev’s rule of the mob, by the mob, for the mob.
Ukraine: Election without Voters
24.10.2014 | 16:39 | Phillip SADILENKO
The pre-election race is winding up in Ukraine. It’s not the first time the election gives rise to exasperation among grassroots and it’s not the first time the pre-election campaign is accompanied by outlandish events unthinkable in normal society. Nothing comparable has ever happened in Ukraine. Is there another state in the world holding snap election while being plunged in civil war and entangled in the quagmire of political marketing, propaganda technologies and pre-election advertisements? From outside it looks like cynicism, from inside – like evil grotesque and tragic phantasmagoria… The specific feature of the race is that it has made surface and take shape the trend which many call «the revolt of real Nazi»… Many things are not predestined. But it can be said definitely that people have absolutely no influence on the outcome of October 2014 parliamentary election. No matter what results are made public under the circumstances, the further Nazification of the regime is unstoppable no matter the personalities.
ISIL Attacks Ottawa: The Canadian Government and Media are Creating a Moral Panic?
24.10.2014 | 12:20 | Mahdi Darius NAZEMROAYA
…On October 22, 2014 a solitary gunman named Michael Zehaf-Bibeau (originally Michael Joseph Hall) from the Québécois city of Laval went on a shooting spree in downtown Ottawa, the capital of Canada… Headlines and news broadcasts included titles like «Ottawa under attack». Ottawans were liberally afraid that the ISIL was attacking Canada’s shores… There is an old saying that societies gets all the criminals it deserves… Instead of looking overseas or blaming outside forces, Canada needs to look inside… As a final note, the same people inflating fears of terrorism in Canada also supported it overseas. It should never be forgotten that Prime Minister Steven Harper and his cabinet supported the «terrorists» they now claim to oppose…

Christoph de Margerie: Europe Does Not Need Another Berlin Wall
24.10.2014 | 00:00 | Natalia MEDEN
…It’s not organizations but rather people who lay down the basis for mutual trust between nations. The level of contributions differs; in some cases it by far exceeds the average like in the case of Christoph de Margerie. In July the head of Total told Reuters in an interview that Europe needs no Berlin Wall. «Are we going to build a new Berlin Wall?» he asked adding, «Russia is a partner and we shouldn’t waste time protecting ourselves from a neighbour … What we are looking to do is not to be too dependent on any country, no matter which. Not from Russia, which has saved us on numerous occasions»…
Western Sponsors Liable for Kiev Basket Case
23.10.2014 | 00:00 | Finian CUNNINGHAM
Since Washington and Brussels shunted the geopolitical tracks in the first place to create the financial train wreck that is now manifestly the Ukraine, you would think that there might be a sense of obligation on Western governments to salvage the mess. Not a bit of it, it seems. Furthermore, the train wreck is careening dangerously into the Russian economy. But still, the Western governments adopt an attitude that Moscow must pay for the damages… If Ukraine comes off the rails with an energy crisis this winter, the responsibility lies with the reckless regime-hijackers in Washington and Brussels…
Political Manipulations with the Price of Oil
23.10.2014 | 00:00 | Mikhail AGHAJANYAN
The drop in oil prices that began at the same time as Islamic State (IS) attacks in Iraq and Syria is impossible to explain with economic factors. The world has long been used to the fact that the market has reacted to every war in the Middle East, where 47 per cent of the world’s ‘black gold’ reserves are concentrated, with a sharp jump in oil prices. That is what happened during the two wars in the Persian Gulf, and that is also what happened when the Americans began their ‘mission to restore democracy’ in Afghanistan. And speculation about a possible military conflict between the US and Iran was accompanied by the expectation of a jump in oil prices of up to $200 a barrel and higher. At present, everything has turned upside down, but for how long?..
US Imposes Sanctions against Hungarian Citizens
22.10.2014 | 09:00 | Pyotr ISKENDEROV
…The US decision to impose sanctions against some Hungarian politicians, businessmen and tax officials has evoked a shock reaction in Budapest. Even the European Commission has not dared to do anything similar, no matter it has many times accused Hungarian Prime Minister Victor Orban of violating EU regulations and standards. No wonder! There is something important at stake – the fate of the most important endeavor ever undertaken since the Second World War. The goal is to use sanctions and other means of pressure to subjugate Russia and make it serve the vital interests of the West. Hungary has happened to be a «weak link» among the European Union’s ranks…
New Composition of UN Security Council, Prospects for 2015
22.10.2014 | 09:00 | Alexander MEZYAEV
On October 16 the United Nations General Assembly elected a new United Nations Security Council (UNSC). According to UN Charter, there are fifteen Council members – five permanent with 10 others elected. Half of non-permanent members are re-elected every year. Non-permanent members have no veto right but still possess considerable clout, especially when they join together. First, the United Nations Security Council is the main UN organ responsible for peace and international security. It can approve the use of force. Recently there were cases when non-permanent members hindered the passing of draft resolutions submitted by permanent UNSC members…
Soros and the CIA Now Banking on Neves to Defeat Rousseff
21.10.2014 | 00:00 | Wayne MADSEN
After the corporate media and the CIA and George Soros manipulators tried to engineer Green Party-turned-Brazilian Socialist presidential candidate Marina Silva into the Brazilian presidency after the classic CIA textbook aerial assassination of Socialist Party presidential standard bearer Eduardo Campos, these same forces are at it again on behalf of Social Democratic Party candidate Aecio Neves… Neves’s chief economic adviser and the man who would become Finance Minister in a Neves presidency is Arminio Fraga Neto. A former close friend and associate of Soros and his Quantum hedge fund, Fraga is hoping that a Neves presidency will open up Brazil to “market forces,” the very same forces that have declared economic war on Venezuela and are attempting to swindle Argentina through vulture funds run by Soros’s Wall Street friends…
Brazil under CIA Pressure
21.10.2014 | 00:00 | Nil NIKANDROV
Over two thousand Brazilian political activists, intellectuals, people of art and culture signed a manifest on October 26 highlighting the hostile actions of Washington aimed at prevention of Dilma Rousseff election victory. The document is posted to social nets. It says the coming to power of Aécio Neves of the Brazilian Social Democracy Party (Partido da Social Democracia Brasileira – PSDB), who serves the interests of tycoons, will inflict irreparable damage to the country and take away all the snags on the way of US direct interference into the Brazilian internal affairs. Neves is to play the role of obedient tool in the hands of US administration. Washington goes to any length to achieve its goal and bring the desired candidate to power – some things are done covertly, some tricks are resorted to in a clandestine way…
US Economy Safety Margin Tested as Oil Prices Go Down
20.10.2014 | 00:00 | Alexander DONETSKY
…Speaking at the ASEM forum in Milan, Russian President Vladimir Putin noted that the world economy will not sustain oil prices at around 80 dollars per barrel… US shale oil producers will suffer most. According to experts’ estimates, the cost of production is around 80-90 dollars a barrel, 4-5 times more than the traditional oil. It means that the current price – 85 dollars a barrel as of October 17 – makes the companies operate in the red. Some producers will have to suspend operations facing mass bankruptcy in case the oil price falls lower than 80 dollars as shareholders start getting rid of zero profit bonds. The shale oil «soap bubble» will blow like the housing construction industry «bubble» blew in 2008. Of course, as time goes by oil prices will go up but it’ll be a different world with some US oil producers non-existent anymore…
Britain’s UKIP Win another Sign of EU Rebellion
20.10.2014 | 00:00 | Finian CUNNINGHAM
The political earthquake rumbles on in Europe with the latest election victory of Britain’s far-right and fervently eurosceptic UK Independence Party. But it would be a mistake to paint the rise of Britain’s UKIP as just a rightwing nationalistic fashion. What the rise of the party portends is a widespread disaffection among the European citizenry towards the increasingly autocratic European Union. The EU is no longer seen as a progressive project promoting social development, but rather as a juggernaut to railroad through the elite interests of finance capital…
The Internationalisation of the Yuan (I)
19.10.2014 | 00:00 | Valentin KATASONOV
The issue of turning the yuan into an international currency is the subject of much controversy. Some believe that Beijing should opt for full convertibility of the yuan, turning it into a fully-fledged international currency. Others believe that the yuan is already an international currency, citing impressive figures that reflect the growing use of the Chinese currency in international trade. Still others hold the view that turning the yuan into an international currency would be of no benefit to Beijing, and the Chinese authorities are even intentionally preventing it. The complexity of the problem lies in the fact that moving the yuan towards internationalisation involves three distinct phases: turning the Chinese currency into a) a trading currency, b) an investment currency, and c) a reserve currency…
Russian Victims of Polish Concentration Camps
19.10.2014 | 00:00 | Nikolai MALISHEVSKI
The idea to erect a memorial in Krakow devoted to Red Army soldiers who lost their lives in Polish concentration camps sparked a scandal in Poland. The Russian Military Historical Society collected funds for a monument to commemorate the Red Army servicemen taken prisoner who died in a concentration camp located in D?bie and were buried in common grave… The Society’s website says those willing to make a contribution can use the offered bank account. The same post says «Over 1, 2 thousand Red Army prisoners, the victims of the 1919-1921 Soviet-Polish war, are buried at the Krakow cemetery. The names are mainly unknown. Paying respect to their memory is the duty of their successors». Poland is outraged – the idea of erecting a memorial is seen as an attempt to «distort history» and «distract attention from Katyn»…
Ukraine Steals Attention in Milan – no Progress Reached
18.10.2014 | 18:00 | Boris NOVOSELTSEV
…The West is reluctant to get to the bottom of what is happening in Ukraine and continues to adopt a rather speculative approach. The Milan talks have brought about no progress. There is a sustained perception that as soon as the United States gets one way or another involved in the tripartite EU-Ukraine-Russia negotiations the progress on the Ukrainian issue immediately hits snags and becomes stymied. Perhaps Washington believes that the continuation of crisis allows killing two birds with one stone – it makes Ukraine shoulder the double burden to plunge the country into the managed chaos and weakens Europe and Russia as they conduct sanctions and anti-sanctions war.
