At around midnight, Maltese time, a flotilla carrying humanitarian aid to Gaza was targeted by Israeli drones while in international waters near Malta.
The Maltese government announced that the resulting fire on the ship was put out by 2:13 am local time, assuring that everyone aboard the ship was “confirmed safe.”
The Freedom Flotilla Coalition, an international NGO, sent the flotilla in an attempt to break the Israeli blockade on Gaza and deliver much-needed humanitarian aid.
In a social media post, the NGO said, “The drone attack appears to have specifically targeted the ship’s generator, and the vessel is now at risk of sinking with 30 international human rights activists on board,”
“Israel” has a history of attacking ships sending humanitarian aid to Gaza. In 2010, “Israel” killed 9 activists on board an aid ship trying to break its blockade on Gaza, and prevented its humanitarian aid from reaching the Strip.
