Black Agenda Radio May 23, 2025

In this week’s segment, we discuss the legacy of Malcolm X and the state of the political party that many Black people feel trapped in. We are joined by a guest in Libya who explains the lasting impact of the US/NATO destruction of that state in 2011. But first, we are joined by a journalist who has been subjected to arrest, detention, raids, and the confiscation of his equipment by two different European governments. The only crime he has committed is to practice journalism, exposing Israel’s genocide and western collusion with that apartheid state.

Independent Jourmalist Richard Medhurst Targeted by Western Governments Acting on Israel’s Behalf

Our guest is Richard Medhurst. He is an independent journalist whose work has been severely impacted by state repression in the UK and Austria. He was arrested and detained in the UK in August 2024 and placed under investigation. In addition, Austrian authorities also detained him, raided his home, and seized his devices. New revelations indicate the direct involvement of the Israeli government in these actions. Richard Medhurst joins us from Vienna.

Malcolm X Legacy and Politics Today

Anthony Rogers-Wright is a Black Agenda Report contributor and host of the WPFW program Full Spectrum, where Margaret Kimberley was recently a guest. They discussed the legacy of Malcolm X on the 100th anniversary of his birth and the state of the Democratic Party after its ignominious defeat at the hands of Donald Trump. Here are excerpts of their discussion.

How the Libyan People Are Still Impacted By the U.S./NATO Destruction of Their State

Our guest is Dr. Abdelkarim Kashkar. He is a physician and an author who writes about politics in Libyan newspapers. He joins us from Benghazi, Libya, to discuss how the United States impacts the people of that country after having destroyed their state in 2011, imposed sanctions, and now uses it as a location to accept deported people and possibly refugees from Gaza.
