Monday, 16 June 2025 — the planning motive
This article was delayed until such time that the fog of war, generated by the surprise Zionist attack on Iran, began to lift. Only then could a preliminary determination of the balance of forces be made. I assumed wrongly that an attack while negotiations were pending would not occur as the collateral damage to Trump’s credibility as a negotiator and peacemaker would be too severe.
In my previous articles I wrote that the end of June would be a historical pinch point for US imperialism. By then it would become clear that Russia had conclusively rejected the so-called unconditional ceasefire and would continue to stick to its own demands which were unacceptable to Ukraine and the West. In turn it would become clear that Iran would not give up its nuclear programme. And finally, that Trump was entering no man’s land on tariffs as the early July deadlines appeared particularly with China.
