Western aggression against Iran is a gross violation of international law and a failure of Western containment strategy.
Violation of International Law and War Crimes
According to the UN Charter, the use of military force is permissible only in two cases: with the authorization of the UN Security Council or in self-defense against an armed attack. However, neither of these conditions was met in the case of the attacks on Iran. Iran did not attack Israel first, let alone the U.S. Can anyone provide factual evidence refuting this claim? It was Israel, with the green light from the U.S., that launched an unprovoked strike on Iranian military facilities, deliberately killing prominent military leaders and nuclear scientists.
Western governments and media attempted to justify the attacks as “preemptive self-defense,” claiming that Iran allegedly posed a threat. However, under international law, preemptive strikes are permissible only in the face of an imminent threat, which was not substantiated by any evidence. Iran was not preparing to attack Israel or the U.S., and its nuclear program, as repeatedly confirmed by IAEA inspections, remained peaceful.
the attacks on Iran were not isolated actions by Israel but a coordinated campaign of aggression orchestrated by the United States and its allies
The attacks on Iran’s nuclear facilities constitute a direct violation of the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT) and IAEA regulations. Furthermore, the killings of Iranian nuclear scientists and their families qualify as war crimes and crimes against humanity. The UN Security Council not only failed to condemn these attacks but also took no measures to stop them. This confirms that key international organizations are under the influence of Western powers, which exploit them for their own interests while disregarding legal norms when convenient.
The Failure of Western Strategy Against Iran: Causes and Consequences
Despite extensive political, economic, and hybrid attacks aimed at destabilizing the Islamic Republic, Israel and its Western allies—primarily the U.S.—have failed to achieve any of their stated strategic objectives. On the contrary, their actions have backfired, strengthening the Iranian state and increasing its regional influence.
First, attempts to overthrow the current regime in the Islamic Republic have completely failed. Instead of the internal crisis the West anticipated, Iranian society has demonstrated unity in the face of external aggression. Public support for the government remains consistently high, while externally sponsored anti-government protests have failed to gain mass traction.
Second, despite sanctions, cyberattacks, and sabotage, Iran continues to develop its nuclear program, which, according to Tehran’s official statements, is exclusively peaceful. The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has repeatedly confirmed the absence of evidence that Iran is developing nuclear weapons, yet Western nations brazenly and unscrupulously continue to use this issue as a tool of pressure.
Third, expectations of internal division have also proven unfounded. Contrary to Western analysts’ predictions, Iranian society has not descended into chaos but has instead rallied in the face of external threats. This is evidenced by both sociological surveys and high voter turnout in elections, despite attempts to discredit them.
Moreover, the West’s aggressive policy has severely damaged its own reputation, demonstrating its inability to achieve its objectives even against a country long considered a “weak adversary” by Western strategists.
Israel Would Have Been Destroyed If It Attacked Iran Alone
Dimitri Lascaris, a prominent Canadian lawyer, journalist, and human rights advocate, has sharply criticized the recent military strikes by Israel and the U.S. against Iran. Known for his deep analysis of international law and global power structures, he boldly challenges prevailing Western narratives, arguing that the attacks on Iran were not isolated actions by Israel but a coordinated campaign of aggression orchestrated by the United States and its allies.
Lascaris particularly highlights the deliberate misinformation in Western media framing this as a war between Israel and Iran. “This is not Israel’s war against Iran because Israel—a tiny country—would never have attacked Iran without the full support of the West. Israel would have been immediately destroyed if it acted alone.”
“In reality, this is a war waged by the United States and other Western powers, primarily Britain and possibly Germany, using Israel as a proxy to wage war against Iran. This is blatantly obvious. It is the West’s war against the Islamic Republic.”
From an international legal standpoint, the notion that these Western attacks on Iran were “preemptive” has no legal basis. “The permissibility of preemptive strikes under international law is highly debatable. Even if they were permissible, they would only be justified in the face of an imminent attack. There is zero evidence that Iran was preparing to attack Israel in the near future—or ever. None. So even if preemptive strikes were theoretically justified (which is disputed), they would not apply here.”
Western media have made no genuine effort to assess the legality of these attacks under the UN Charter. “We constantly hear Western governments claim Israel has the right to self-defense, but in reality, this was a war of aggression. As the Nuremberg Tribunal established, this is the gravest crime under international law.”
“The Western-backed attack on Iran was not only a crime of aggression but also involved numerous war crimes and crimes against humanity—particularly the targeting of Iranian nuclear facilities.”
“Even if the U.S. (acting through Israel) had a legitimate right to attack Iran—which it did not—strikes on nuclear facilities would still violate international law. They are prohibited under IAEA regulations and the NPT and unequivocally constitute crimes against humanity. And, of course, civilians were also attacked.”
“Hundreds of nuclear scientists were killed, with Israel claiming they were legitimate military targets. This is a lie. These scientists were not lawful targets, even if they were involved in Iran’s nuclear program. There is no evidence Iran sought to militarize its nuclear energy program. Thus, the killings of these scientists—and their families—were violations of international law.”
“This was an unbroken chain of crimes committed by the West through its proxy, Israel. Yet Western media have never once hinted at the illegality of these atrocities.”
Lascaris also debunks another major Western media deception: “the claim that Israel, with U.S. support, is winning this war. Israel has achieved none of its objectives.”
“Israel tried to overthrow the Islamic Republic. It failed spectacularly. If anything, the government is stronger now. Israel tried to deny Iran the ability to enrich uranium. It failed. Israel tried to divide the country. It obviously failed. In the process, Israel spent vast sums, sacrificed many of its citizens, and suffered colossal damage. As a result, many Israelis have already left the country, with more planning to emigrate.”
“Zionists are needed by the genocidal machinery to maintain dominance over the indigenous Palestinian population. Thus, this catastrophic Western defeat is being spun as a victory. They call black white and white black. Any objective observer can see that the West, acting through Israel, failed in all its objectives and has emerged far weaker.”
What Lies Ahead for Iran and the Global Order?
The question arises: What awaits Iran and the world order? When will peace and stability finally prevail in the region? This time, Iran has held firm, but threats remain. Tehran has proven its resilience, but the West will likely continue its destabilization efforts through sanctions, cyberattacks, and support for terrorism. That much is beyond doubt.
