Brussels’ New Russia Sanctions Fuel for Eventual EU Bonfire
31.01.2015 | 00:00 | Finian CUNNINGHAM
…Moreover, the leftwing Syriza government has denounced EU sanctions against Russia as baseless and has openly welcomed fraternal relations with president Vladimir Putin and Moscow. The inauguration of Alexi Tsipras as Greek prime minister also this week marks the election of the first EU government that is explicitly anti-austerity and vowing to repudiate the authority of Brussels. The European Council, led by former Polish president Donald Tusk, decided to extend travel bans and asset freezes on a list of Russia officials allegedly over the violence in Ukraine…
Obama’s Sudden Visit to Saudi Arabia
31.01.2015 | 00:00 | Dmitry MININ
…Vice President Joe Biden was to take part in the funeral of Saudi Arabia’s King Abdullah, but Obama cut short a day his visit to India so that he could travel to Riyadh on January 27 to pay respects to Saudi royals too… The Obama’s rush to the Arabian Peninsula was belated from point of view of ritual and premature from point of view of protocol. It displayed the Washington’s anxiety over the situation in the Middle East. The attempt to impose the US policies on the new Saudi leadership was just too obvious… Saudi Arabia, the world leading oil supplier and a bulwark of US Persian Gulf policy, happens to be in a precarious situation and Washington has a hand in it…
West Africa: The Approbation of a New World Order
30.01.2015 | 10:37 | Alexander MEZYAEV
The number of conflicts in Africa continues to grow, with more and more new countries getting drawn into them. The situation in West Africa is particularly grave; this part of the continent is being threatened with total destabilisation… The West Africa of today has become a major testing ground where a new model of global governance is being developed… It goes without saying that this system is not only being developed for Africa.
Obama Hustles Modi, Did He Succeed?
30.01.2015 | 00:00 | Melkulangara BHADRAKUMAR
…Indeed, the US objective has always been to recruit India in its containment strategy against China… However, the moment Obama and the spin doctors in his entourage took off for home, Indian officials scrambled to do fire-fighting, distancing themselves from their «strategic misinterpretation» of the joint strategic vision statement. According to them, Modi made it clear to Obama that India’s independent foreign policies would not allow any «third power» (read US) to forge a common front against China…
The «Black Knights» are the Partisan Fighters in an Economic War
29.01.2015 | 00:00 | Valentin KATASONOV
Occasionally while discussing issues related to the West’s economic sanctions against various countries, the subject of the «black knights» crops up. The term «black knight» is given to the small trading partners of a country that is affected by sanctions. They act as intermediaries, facilitating trade and economic relations between that country and the rest of the world… There was a time when «black knights» were not taken seriously… But events of recent years have shown that the thousands of «black knights» now in operation have formed a critical mass, so their potential capability is already comparable to that of the large corporations. And the attempts by those who have introduced the sanctions to monitor the «black knights» are close to zero percent effective.
A Soros «Trojan Horse» inside the New Greek Government?
29.01.2015 | 00:00 | Wayne MADSEN
…Although new Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras… and the vast majority of his new Coalition of the Radical Left (SYRIZA) government have good left-wing and pro-labor credentials, the same cannot be necessarily said of the man Tsipras chose to be Greece’s new finance minister. Yanis Varoufakis is a citizen of Australia who was educated in Britain and worked as a professor at the University of Texas… Varoufakis’s curriculum vitae, reeks of George Soros-intertwined globalist links…
Mariupol: Who Pulled the Trigger?
28.01.2015 | 00:00 | Arkady DZIUBA
…Americans and their puppets in Kiev still cherish the plans to involve Russia in the war and make it bring its military to the Ukraine’s territory. Then they could openly accuse Russia of being an aggressor, mobilize the world community and make the conflict escalate much further. Russia does not want to play by these rules. That’s why Ukrainian military shelled Mariupol – Ukraine has to do the job by itself.
Obama Prefers Arabia to Taj Mahal (II)
28.01.2015 | 00:00 | Melkulangara BHADRAKUMAR
…The US desperately needs Saudi cooperation to address the crisis in Yemen… Today, however much he may respect Brzezinski as a guide and mentor on contemporary world politics («Grand Chessboard»), for Obama himself politically, the crisis in Yemen has the potential to snowball into a showdown with the Republican-dominated Congress and derail the US’ talks with Iran and wreck his entire Middle East agenda…
Liberation of Auschwitz – Heroic Deed of Red Army
27.01.2015 | 00:00 | Yuriy RUBTSOV
…The attempts to destroy the memory of the liberation mission fulfilled by the Soviet Union and its Army during WWII have become so frequent that it starts to look like historic vandalism… We’d better listen to the victims of German concentration camps who are still alive and who greeted the Soviet liberators than pay attention on what Neo-Nazi sponsors from Washington, Berlin and Kiev have to say on the occasion. Noah Flug, the late Chairman of the Center for Holocaust Survivor Organizations in Israel, has said that Jews remember that 65 years ago Majdanek and Auschwitz were liberated by Soviet soldiers and the Red Army. In ghettos and concentration camps, the Red Army was the people’s last hope, it saved them, defeated Hitler, and saved Europe.
Obama Prefers Arabia to Taj Mahal (I)
27.01.2015 | 00:00 | Melkulangara BHADRAKUMAR
Just hours before the US president Barack Obama took off from Washington for his three-day state visit to India beginning on Sunday, he ordered to simply chop off a poignant slice of his tour itinerary – a memorable visit to the Taj Mahal… Obama decided that he also urgently needed to be in Saudi Arabia and, therefore, once the transactional part of his India visit was over, he would head straight for Riyadh… Clearly, Obama intends to engage first hand at the very earliest the new Saudi leadership under King Salman. A criticality arises, since King Salman who is in the late seventies is known to be suffering from Alzheimer’s, and according to the Wall Street Journal, US officials do not consider him to be a strong or healthy ruler in his own right, which inevitably raises the possibility of others in the royal family coming to the forecourt in a matter of time…
Merkel as Soft Cop in False Flag Offensive on Russia
26.01.2015 | 10:12 | Finian CUNNINGHAM
At the World Economic Forum last week, German Chancellor Angela Merkel let the cat out of the bag with her sly offer, or rather bribe, to Russia. The German leader told delegates in Davos that European Union sanctions on Russia would be lifted in exchange for a «peace deal» in Ukraine. She promised a «free trade pact from Lisbon to Vladivostok»… Merkel, who is known for her ardent «transatlantic» partnership with America, is thus showing herself to be dutifully doing Washington’s bidding over the Ukraine crisis and the bigger objective of subordinating Russia to Western hegemony, or as the New York Times euphemistically calls it «better relations with the West»…
Rating Weapon of Economic War
26.01.2015 | 00:00 | Valentin KATASONOV
At the beginning of 2015 economic ratings given to Russia’s economy appeared in the West to cover the previous year, offer the forecasts for the current year and even for the period of 2016-2017… On January 13 Fitch rating agency downgraded the ratings of 13 Russian companies, including Gasprom, Lukoil and Russian Railroad Company. At the same time it was reported that Standard & Poor’s, another world rating agency, could soon downgrade the Russia’s sovereign rating to “junk” status. Moody’s, one more agency of the Big Three group, is also expected to join in the virtual game of Russia’s downgrading… The ratings cannot be taken at their face value because they have nothing to do at all with the real state of Russian economy. The «Big Three» ratings are a weapon of economic war unleashed against Russia in March 2014. It’s an instrument of psychological pressure. They are planned as self-fulfilling forecasts… My assessments of the world rating agencies’ products are easy to understand. I believe they are nothing else but the results of manipulations, cheatings, falsifications, racket, the instruments of sanctions, the activities of world cartel, conspiracies and subversive activities…
Where Germany Goes to
25.01.2015 | 18:14 | Natalia MEDEN
…In Davos Merkel accused Russia of violating «the values that created a peaceful order in Europe after World War II, namely the acceptance of borders and respect of territorial integrity». Merkel turned a blind eye to the fact that Germany was first (!) to rush and recognize the change of borders in former Yugoslavia that sparked an internal conflict in the Balkans to last for many years. She did not remember Germany mocking the principle of the recognition of borders and the protection of territorial integrity as Serbia was dismembered as a result of Kosovo secession. The day Albania separatists proclaimed their independence Kosovars wrote on the walls of their houses in Pristina «Thank you, Germany!»…
New Saudi King Was Major Supporter of Al Qaeda
25.01.2015 | 00:00 | Wayne MADSEN
The new king of Saudi Arabia, Salman bin Abdulaziz al Saud, the half-brother of King Abdullah, who died in his early 90s from complications from pneumonia, is expected to rule with a more Wahhabist-oriented religious bent… Salman’s devotion to Saudi security is hypocritical at best due to his past support for Al Qaeda, including some of the individuals implicated in the 9/11 attack on the United States. It is Salman’s involvement with financing 9/11 and other terrorists that will likely reinforce the Obama administration’s refusal to declassify 28 missing pages from the 2002 Senate Intelligence Committee’s report on the intelligence failures surrounding the attack. As the then-governor of Riyadh, Salman’s name likely appears as a “big fish” in the redacted 28 pages from the Senate report…
