David Lammy – British Foreign Secretary

Wednesday, 2 October 2024 — Al Mayadeen English

Admitting that South Lebanon constitutes a “quagmire” for Israeli troops, British Foreign Secretary David Lammy told broadcasters, “None of us want to return to the years in which Israel found itself bogged down in a quagmire in southern Lebanon.”

Lammy further warned, “The price would be huge for the Middle East, and it would have a significant effect on the global economy.”

Moreover, he called on all British nationals in Lebanon to leave the country, stressing that the UK government “cannot guarantee that they will be able to get people out of Lebanon in a speedy fashion” if the airport closes.

  1. If one can’t say anything nice, best to say nothing at all.

As far as Mr Lammy goes – he is wearing a smart suit and wears it well.
