Boris Johnson appointed Lord Walney as an “independent” adviser on political violence and disruption.
Walney’s 2024 report urged the government to focus on what he calls the “extreme left” – mostly people campaigning on the climate crisis and standing up for Palestine.
But Walney may not have been so “independent” after all. While he was putting together this report, he was being paid by lobbying organisations whose clients include oil and gas companies and those selling weapons to Israel.
We believe we deserve more from our politicians, especially those advising the government.
Do you agree Walney should be removed from his post and his potential conflicts of interest should be investigated?
