Will you ask President Biden to pardon Julian?

Monday, 13 January 2025 — Assange Defense

Julian Assange’s brother, Gabriel Shipton has shared an important letter with us:

In October, during his first public statement in years, Julian reminded us that, “The basic fundamental liberties which sustain us all have to be fought for.”

While Julian is no longer behind bars, his release required him to plead guilty for simply doing his job. Julian’s conviction casts a shadow over press freedom and the safety of truth-tellers everywhere—a wrong we’re determined to set right.

This fight doesn’t end with Julian’s release; true success means overturning his wrongful conviction.

With just 7 days until President Biden leaves office, we have a short window to push for a full pardon. We’re so close to securing the justice this case demands.

Will you ask President Biden to pardon Julian?

In November, in an exceptional show of bi-partisan support from the US, an official letter co-authored by Democratic Congressman James McGovern and Republican Congressman Thomas Massie urged President Biden to pardon Julian.

They expressed concern that Julian’s conviction “could be used against journalists and news organisations engaged in their normal activities, particularly those who cover national security topics.”

To amplify their statements, we have created a handy form that sends a letter to the President via the US Pardon Attorney. Almost 30,000 people have already made their voices heard.

Join them by sending your letter now. It takes less than a minute.

Julian is pushing for a pardon, not because it affects him. But because of what he stands for.

Thank you for standing with us to defend our fundamental liberties.
