Early Friday, Israel launched massive air and missile strikes across Iran, an unprecedented assault Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu claimed was aimed at the country’s nuclear facilities.

The attacks targeted Iran’s top military leadership, killing several senior officers, including armed forces chief of staff General Mohammad Baqeri and chief commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps Major General Hossein Salami.

Several senior scientists were also killed in the Israeli attacks which targeted residential neighborhoods as well as nuclear and military sites, and left 78 people dead and almost 400 injured by Friday afternoon.

Netanyahu has stated that the attacks will continue for “as many days as it takes.”Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, Iran’s supreme leader, vowed that his country’s armed forces would retaliate and warned that “the Zionist regime has prepared a bitter and painful fate for itself – and it will undoubtedly receive it.

”Israel claimed that Iran fired some 100 drones towards Israel, in what appeared to be an initial response, and that Israel’s air force was working to shoot them down.The administration of US President Donald Trump, which had been engaging in negotiations with Iran, offered its full support to Israel.

“I gave Iran chance after chance to make a deal. I told them, in the strongest of words, to ‘just do it,’ but no matter how hard they tried, no matter how close they got, they just couldn’t get it done,” Trump wrote on his Truth Social website.

The president stated:

“I told them it would be much worse than anything they know, anticipated, or were told, that the United States makes the best and most lethal military equipment anywhere in the World, BY FAR, and that Israel has a lot of it, with much more to come – And they know how to use it.”

“Certain Iranian hardliner’s spoke bravely, but they didn’t know what was about to happen. They are all DEAD now, and it will only get worse,”
