A newly-published academic study in “New Media and Society” has found that Google is systematically removing bad reviews of US Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s (ICE) detention facilities from its platforms, including Google Maps.
ICE has rapidly expanded under the Trump administration, and now holds over 65,000 people at a network of 200 facilities, whose conditions are so bad they are commonly referred to as “concentration camps.”
