Let’s demand the impossible

Friday, 26 April 2024 — Migrants Organise

The Rwanda Deportation sham continues to dominate British politics causing relentless trauma.

This comes at a time when we’ve been told that there is no money left for anything; after the previous short-lived administration crashed the economy, at a time when school meals were cut, people are dying in cold homes, when it has been impossible to find a home, our waters are polluted by water companies, when millions of people rely on food banks, the list goes on.

Image All these injustices have been normalised and are the consequence of the same structure – extractive disaster capitalism. For that self-serving, privileged mindset, it is impossible to be accountable, let alone to think or serve the needs of the rest of society.

The 1968 French students’ uprising motto –  “Be realistic – demand impossible” – best sums up the demand for migrant justice in 2024. It may sound radical, but it is not.

That’s why today we wanted to share the Solidarity Knows No Borders Organising Toolkit.

ORGANISING TOOLKIT- DOWNLOAD NOW

This is an interactive toolkit designed to support communities in resisting Britain’s racist & hostile immigration system and to build knowledge of practical organising tools like power mapping and 1-2-1s.

The creation of this toolkit has been a team effort. It contains tools, ideas and strategies from us at Migrants Organise, the visual imagination of Migrants In Culture and the wisdom, stories and power from the Solidarity Knows No Borders community.

TOOLS & STORIES TO BUILD POWER

Image Many of you reading this email are already engaged in deep organising, working at the grassroots to resist hostile environment policies on a daily basis. Some of you are at the sharp end of these brutal policies. Others are supporters and show solidarity by turning up to actions and donating, whilst some of you are volunteers. We must come together to demand the de-normalisation of oppressive systems and cultures.

It is not our job to tinker around the edges of hostility but to exercise the power of imagination in the face of disillusionment.

Let’s demand the impossible together- an end the hostile environment for all!

In solidarity,

Zrinka Bralo

CEO,  Migrants Organise
