We’ll be joined from Gaza by Electronic Intifada contributor Abubaker Abed to talk about the day’s extraordinary events.

As the clock struck 8:30 am local time on Sunday morning, the appointed hour for the start of the ceasefire, there was jubilation across the Gaza Strip, amid tears of joy and relief.

Displaced people streamed towards their homes in various parts of the territory to see what remained and to look for loved ones, many perhaps buried under rubble.

Israel however did not stop its attacks on Gaza until several hours later, using the pretext that Hamas had been late in handing over the names of three Israeli women set to be released later on Sunday in exchange for the first group Palestinians – 70 women and 25 men – set to be freed from Israeli prisons.

We will talk about the day’s developments and what comes next for the people of a devastated Gaza after more than 15 months of genocide.

Please join Ali Abunimah, Nora Barrows-Friedman, Jon Elmer, Tamara Nassar and Asa Winstanley.
