Ex-policy adviser at the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO), Mark Smith, penned an op-Ed for the Guardian in which he stated “I was responsible for assessing whether the UK government’s arms sales adhered to legal and ethical standards under domestic and international law.” He resigned from his position in August of 2024, now blowing the whistle on London ignoring evidence of war crimes in order to continue the flow of weapons to Israel.
