I’ve had it with WordPress!

Update:

Luckily, I got WordPress to restore the Classic option, so I can continue to publish here. However, that doesn’t alter my opinion about how upset I am about what’s happened to the WordPress Platform that I’ve been using for over 20 years!

I can no longer use WordPress as the Classic editor has been removed and in order to use this function, I now have to ‘upgrade’ my subscription in order to install the Classic Plugin.

WordPress wages war on its users by inexorable attrition of functions that used to be free.

    1. Unfortunately not. I’ve published getting on for 32,000 pages here, moving them is not only an extremely complex process but move them where? Two decades ago, I had a self-hosted WordPress site that I built myself, an ideal setup except the hosting company decided that it was much trouble, so I moved it all to a WordPress server and no longer have much control over the site itself. I’m at the mercy of the ‘Happiness Engineers’ and what WordPress does to its software.

  2. I don’t know where else we can go – blogger is already policing me, and deleting stuff.

    1. Yes, I just had an exchange with WordPress’s’Happiness Engineer’ about the arbitrary nature of the decisions it makes. As a result they have reinstated my ability to use the Classic Interface when creating new posts. The Block Editor is a total dog, I refuse to use it.

      1. I stopped posting on WP a long time ago but left the blog up just in case. I will try the happiness engineer!
