Taking a look at the use of psychiatry and psychology in social control and social engineering. From the days of ‘mad doctors‘ to modern day pharmacological approaches to the mind, the concept of a ‘cure’ is associated with brain damage, while the definition of madness or ‘mental illness’ is in a constant state of change. This important institution defines the way we understand our minds, and thus, our understanding of ourselves, our world, and our place within it. Like tearing down the walls of an asylum, we must tear down the walls of this vast institution in order to more properly free our minds.
