CIA Activities in Syria: US Never Stops to Step on Same Rake

05.10.2013 | 00:00 | Andrei AKULOV

According to the Washington Post (CIA Ramping up Covert Training Program for Moderate Syrian Rebels, Oct.3), the CIA is expanding a clandestine effort to train opposition fighters in Syria, as U.S. officials said… The Washington Post informs that US officials spoke on the condition of anonymity and said the agency has sent additional paramilitary teams to secret bases in Jordan in recent weeks in a push to double the number of rebel fighters getting CIA instruction and weapons before being sent back to Syria… The CIA is «ramping up and expanding its effort», said a U.S. official familiar with operations in Syria, because «it was clear that the opposition was losing, and not only losing tactically but on a more strategic level»…

Washington’s Israeli Co-driver has Roadblocks Aplenty for Iran In Diplomatic Road Ahead

05.10.2013 | 00:00 | Finian CUNNINGHAM

The Iranian government has described the newfound path of diplomacy with the United States as «a long road with a lot of ups and downs». Not only ups and downs, it may be added, but twists and turns, blind alleys, potholes, craters and treacherous precipices. And if the US client Israeli regime has its way the Iranian negotiating vehicle could find itself in a head-on collision with a brick wall…

One More Time about US «Exceptionalism»

04.10.2013 | 00:00 | Dmitriy SEDOV

The President Obama’s words about US exceptionalism appeared to sound sincerely. This national narcissism is something already seen before, but the America’s open and myope haughtiness make one pose and ponder. Did President Obama speak on behalf of American nation? Is the nation consolidated enough to speak before the world with one voice? Does the black skinned President have a right to say for all US citizens «We, America»?..

Polish Human Rights Activists: They Have Plans for Crimea

04.10.2013 | 00:00 | Vladislav GULEVICH

…With Kiev being under the effectof narcotic anesthesia, the West has started the process of Ukraine’s territorial dismemberment. This fact is obvious for everyone. There is a reason behind it: by undermining the administrative-territorial pillars of Ukrainian state the rapprochement between Russia and Ukraine could be prevented for many years. It serves the Europe’s strategic purposes; the weakening of central power makes easier the mission of devouring Ukraine by parts. That’s the future they prepare for Crimea – a precious prize in the Black Sea area…

Financial Vultures against Argentina

03.10.2013 | 09:53 | Valentin KATASONOV

This year, the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit accepted Argentina’s complaint for examination. At the end of August 2013, the court announced its own, possibly historical, decision revoking the right of a sovereign state to independently manage its own debt…

The «heroic flexibility» of Iran’s New Diplomacy

03.10.2013 | 00:00 | Nikolai BOBKIN

…Tehran’s new diplomatic initiatives hold strategic significance for Iran. One could talk about their focus on changing the entire geopolitical architecture of the Middle East. However, the likelihood of an Iranian-American rapprochement, even within the framework of Iran’s «heroic flexibility», is relatively low. From Washington’s point of view, there is currently no chance of fundamentally improving relations with Iran without upsetting its balance of cooperation with Israel and Saudi Arabia, as well as other countries in the Gulf region. In order to tread the road to the White House, Tehran is still going to have to normalise its relations with these countries. As far as Israel is concerned, however, this kind of opportunity for Iran’s new diplomacy so far remains beyond the reach of what is acceptable.

European Hyenas. 75th Anniversary of Munich Pact

02.10.2013 | 09:17 | Yuriy RUBTSOV

There are anniversaries in the political calendar of Western democracies that London, Washing-ton, Paris and Warsaw world prefer to skip. One of such events took place exactly 75 years ago on September 30, 1938 when prime-ministers of Great Britain and France – Neville Chamberlain and Eduard Daladier – signed the Munich Pact with Adolf Hitler and Benito Mussolini allowing the aggressors to grab Czechoslovakia. The United States supported the deal. No matter how hard one tries to delete or blur over this ignominious page in the history of Western diplomacy, the peoples’ memory is too strong to make it forgotten. Indeed, the Munich Pact cannot be consigned to oblivion – it started WWII…

October 1, 2013: US Government Shut Down and Facing Default

02.10.2013 | 00:00 | Valentin KATASONOV

America is facing a default in the coming days. Treasury Secretary Jacob Lew has said the government will have exhausted its borrowing authority by Oct. 17, leaving the United States just $30 billion cash on hand to pay its bills. In a letter to top congressional leaders, Lew warned that a repeat of the debt brinksmanship of 2011 could inflict great harm on the economy and that «if the government should ultimately become unable to pay all of its bills, the results could be catastrophic»… Obama urgently needs the ceiling raised again. Republicans will make him remember the unfulfillable promise given in 2011 to cut budget expenses. Experts are sure the US rating is doomed to go down in mid-October again. It’ll be a real blow for the government and private business, because ratings influence interest rates and the value of financial instruments (including bonds). The performance staged by Congress in October 2013 is to be no less captivating than the one the world saw in 2011.

Netanyahu to Pressure Obama on Iran Talks

01.10.2013 | 00:00 | Wayne MADSEN

History shows that Israel is apt to create turmoil for American foreign policy when it doesn’t get its way. After President Barack Obama’s history-making telephone conversation with Iranian President Hassan Rouhani, held while Rouhani was en route to New York’s John F. Kennedy airport for his return flight to Iran, Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu prepared himself for a diplomatic battle with Obama during a visit to the White House on September 30… After years of holding sway over successive U.S. administrations, the Israeli leadership will not go quietly into the night. The world can expect more Mossad-initiated false flag terrorist operations or nuclear material smuggling incidents with the intention of linking them to Iran. Count on it.

Individual Terror as Pattern of Washington’s Foreign Policy

01.10.2013 | 00:00 | Nil NIKANDROV

Physical elimination of foreign politicians fallen out of US favor has become a routine matter for Obama’s administration. The US special services have put to good use the experience of international terrorist organizations as well as the inventions of its own, like, for instance, purposeful cancer contamination or the use of «radioactive delayed action mines». The Empire has not ended the clandestine operations against Latina America’s «populist leaders» even after the death of Hugo Chavez… Someone will say – is it the «conspiracy theory» again? Is it the story about the cruel methods used by the United States ruling circles to clear the way for establishing Pax Americana – from unprovoked wars to individual terror? Exactly…

Dramatic Turn of Events – Syrian Opposition Groups Throw in Their Lot with Al Qaeda

30.09.2013 | 00:00 | Dmitry MININ

…From now on, whatever Washington says about the democratic values to be protected in Syria, the continuation of support for the Syrian opposition forces will mean only one thing – an ominous alliance with Al Qaeda which exercises control over 90 percent of Syrian militants. Never in its history has this group had such a huge field army. Dozens of thousands fighters fill its ranks. How will it use this power? Is Richard Spencer right saying that the irrational hatred of Russia makes certain circles in Washington incite the Al Qaeda gangs to turn against Russia? It’s not that I want to believe it, but facts are something one can hardly turn a blind eye on…

Was Obama Planning on Striking Syria or Working to Gain Traction in Talks With Iran?

30.09.2013 | 00:00 | Mahdi Darius NAZEMROAYA

There are several ways to interpret the Obama Administration’s August 31, 2013 decision to ask the US Congress to vote on a so-called «limited strike» against Syria. These interpretations need to be analyzed to see what the intentions of the US were when it threatened to engage Syria in a direct war…

The Dragon Enters NATO’s Orchard

29.09.2013 | 00:00 | Melkulangara BHADRAKUMAR

A tumultuous week it has been, the one that just moved away. It began with United States president Barack Obama’s speech in the UN General Assembly last Monday signaling that the era of American dominance of the Middle East is ending. But the signal is already being acted upon before the week ended. That is what the stunning announcement in Ankara on Thursday signifies – over the decision by the Turkish government led by Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan to select a Chinese defence firm, China Precision Machinery Import and Export Corp [CPMIEC], for a $3 billion contract to co-produce a long-range air and missile defence system for the country…
