20 January 2014 — Unlock Democracy
The clock is running. Tomorrow, the Lobbying Bill reaches its final stages in the House of Lords, and on Wednesday it will return to the House of Commons for a final decision. Thanks to the support of hundreds of organisations and thousands of people like you, the Lords have made essential changes to the bill to mitigate some of the worst consequences.
All of this could change when the Bill goes back to Commons. MPs could hit reset on the Bill and undo all of the good work campaigners and activists have been doing! Once again, government are rushing the bill, so MPs will have little time to consider the very important changes that have been made.
It’s absolutely urgent that we tell MPs not to reverse the progress the Bill has made. Can you spare five minutes to write to your MP?
TAKE ACTION: Tell your MP not to hit reset!
Time is of the essence. We have only a few days to convince MPs not to reject the changes to the lobbying bill that we’ve all worked so hard for. This is a winnable battle: Government have been forced to make concessions following a significant defeat in Lords. All we need is one last push!
If MPs hear from their constituents in significant numbers, we stand a good chance of avoiding a reset of the Bill. So what are you waiting for?
Tell your MP not to hit reset!
Many thanks,
Alexandra Runswick
