NEWS 

1.  Zed Books clearance sale
Thanks to the lovely people over at Zed Books we have many Zed titles selling for just £5, or 4 titles for £15. While stock last and in-store only.

2. Indie Bookshop Crawl
Verso Books are using Independent Bookshop Week as an opportunity to help highlight the great work of radical bookshops, culminating in a radical bookshop crawl on Saturday 27th June. If you come in to Housmans on that Saturday you could pick up a FREE new Verso tote bag filled with three of their bestselling titles. All you will have to do is come to the counter and say the magic word: ‘Verso’ (gissabag!). The give-away will last for as long as stocks do, and will be limited to one per person. Bidisha joins us to discuss her book, the result of long-term outreach work with refugees and asylum seekers in London.

David Rosenberg maps London’s protests and struggles, from the early nineteenth to the mid-twentieth century, as explored in his most recent book ‘Rebel Footprints’ (Verso, 2015).

An evening of discussion and drinks in celebration of the memory of pacifist, critic, playwright, novelist, social activist, public speaker, broadcaster and name-sake of Housmans Bookshop, Laurence Housman. Do come along and help us celebrate his 150th birthday!

Changing London have been exploring the progressive potential of the post of mayor, and crowd sourcing practical ideas that could transform the capital for the better, offering up a view of how the city might look if we reclaimed it and fashioned it based on our needs and wants.

9.  The Fuse Book Club – forthcoming titles

Housmans has a monthly book club which usually meets on the second Thursday of the month, starting at 7pm in the shop. Forthcoming titles under discussion are:

First published in 1971, Galeano’s classic text chronicles five centuries of ‘the pillage of a continent’.

10. London Pacifism and Nonviolence Discussion Group

Housmans has a regular Pacifism and Nonviolence Discussion Group, who meet on the second Tuesday of the month. All are welcome, but please be prepared to join in the discussion. Please try to turn up by 7pm sharp.
