“When is help coming?”

Tuesday, 13 February 2024 — Just Treatment

This was the question my 78-year-old mum Jackie asked me as she lay in agony on the floor following a fall at home. I couldn’t give her an answer. In the end, an ambulance only arrived 11 hours after we rang 999. She died in hospital 2 days later after an infection turned to sepsis.

My mum deserved an NHS she could rely on. All of us do. But due to years of underinvestment and neglect, our health service is at breaking point. And patients like my mum are paying the price with their lives.

I’ll be honest: sharing my grief publicly is not easy. But I won’t let my mum’s story be ignored or forgotten.

Just like you, I’m determined to do what it takes to make sure my
heartbreak doesn’t happen to other families. And this year’s General
Election is a chance I know we simply
cannot miss to revive our NHS.

Just Treatment has a plan to train up more people like me to share our
stories, confront politicians and demand action. I know this is
the best chance we have of saving lives, but I also know it takes time and money to pull off. Which is why I’m asking if you can help make sure we can continue fighting right up until the election, by starting a small monthly donation to Just Treatment today?
They’re looking for just 38 more people to hit their target.

A few weeks ago, I joined Just Treatment and other bereaved family members at Downing Street to deliver a petition with over 12,000 signatures demanding urgent investment in our NHS.

Just a few hours later, I spoke live on national TV and radio about my story, and the next day there was a big spread in the Daily Mirror about it. That’s hundreds of thousands of people that we were able to reach with our message.

William, mine is just one story. I know there are so many others out there waiting to be heard. Can you imagine the impact we could have if we were able to scale this up in the run up to the General Election, so that dozens of patients were speaking out and politicians had nowhere to hide?

That’s exactly what Just Treatment’s plan is – and there is no other group or campaign making patients’ stories like mine of unnecessary grief and suffering heard. Together I know we can make a massive impact, but only if this plan has the funding it needs.

Just Treatment is only looking for 38 more people to step up to help right now. So, if you can, will you commit to a small monthly donation to power the fight to save our NHS?

Losing my mum was the hardest thing I’ve ever been through. I can’t bear thinking of a future where thousands of others have to go through that kind of pain, and I know you feel the same. So together, let’s make 2024 a turning point for our NHS.

Thanks so much for reading my story.

Son of Jackie & Just Treatment supporterP.S I know that times are tough and so many of us are having to be careful with money right now. But I promise anything you can donate will be going towards such a good cause – to fight for the healthcare system we all deserve. If you are able to, just click here to chip in >>

Just Treatment is fighting to put patients and the NHS before profit.

One response to ““When is help coming?””

  1. I have been watching from afar the changes in the [NHS] in the UK. It seems clear the effort is to a) destroy the system from lack of funding, and b) to push for a privatized system as in the US. This would be disastrous as anyone can see just from looking at the problems in the US, especially with its efforts to destroy Medicare and force the privatized Medicare Advantage program. Let’s be frank, our world is being increasingly controlled by the oligarchy with its goal of a One World Government controlled by these people coupled with a depopulation agenda. Getting people angry with situations like this poor woman allowed to turned septic and die and pushing them to support a privatized agenda. You are not alone.
