| In this Novara FM podcast, Novara journalists explore the political forces that are driving a crackdown on Palestinian solidarity and our protest rights across the board.
Inspired by Netpol’s ‘In Our Millions’ report and featuring an interview with Netpol’s Kevin Blowe, Novara detail the impact that continually framing protests as potential sites of crime has on our right to freedom of assembly and freedom of expression.
In her interview, Huda Ammori, co-founder of Palestine Action, paints a vivid picture of what it’s like to be the target of a government hate campaign:
“My passport was taken by police, ridiculous charges have been brought against people. Once you’ve been doing this for a while, you get to the point where you almost become used to it. I think that’s a really dangerous point.”
You don’t realise what is outrageous to the general public anymore. It becomes normal for activists to experience these things”
Also interviewed is Tim Crosland from Defend our Juries, who outlines the ways that political pressure on the legal system is stripping away juries right to acquit defendants in protest cases.
