Friday, 27 June 2025 — Crowd Justice

Dear Friends,
I’m writing to you today with an urgent request for support for a crucial campaign that needs our collective help to succeed.
A vital legal effort has launched a CrowdJustice page to fund its important work. This campaign is dedicated to challenging a new uniform policy at Barts Health NHS Trust that bans any visible expressions of support for Palestinians. This policy was imposed following pressure from UK Lawyers for Israel (UKLFI).
Why is this important?
This policy is seen as discriminatory, contravenes core NHS values, and violates the basic rights of expression for healthcare professionals. Barts Health reportedly did not conduct a full Equality Impact Assessment, and the policy extends beyond uniforms, fostering an intimidating anti-Palestinian environment within the Trust. This case is part of a wider concern about the erosion of NHS values.
Three healthcare professionals—a Palestinian nurse, an Iranian Jewish medical consultant, and a Gulf Arab haematology registrar—whose personal stories are featured on the page, are directly affected by this policy. They are represented by Liana Wood at Leigh Day and are seeking to challenge these actions through legal means.
The funds raised through this CrowdJustice page will directly support:
Legal Fees: Covering the costs associated with expert legal advice and representation to fight this discriminatory policy.
Research & Evidence: Compiling robust information and evidence essential for the case to demonstrate the policy’s impact and legal flaws.
Advocacy & Awareness: Raising public awareness about the issues at stake and gathering support to protect freedom of expression and prevent discrimination within the NHS.
How you can help:
Every contribution, no matter how small, makes a significant difference. Your support will empower these healthcare professionals and their legal team to continue their essential work in challenging this policy.

Beyond financial support, you can also help by sharing this email and the CrowdJustice link with your networks, friends, and family who may be interested in supporting this cause. The more people who know, the greater our chance of success.
Thank you for considering this important request. Together, we can make a difference and support this vital campaign for justice and freedom of expression within the NHS.
Sincerely,
Nadeem
