Vaccine Injured and Bereaved vs. AstraZeneca – Time for Justice

Legal Case

  • We are currently in the disclosure stage of the legal case, a critical and costly phase that will showcase the strength of our case.
  • Our legal team are in the process of reviewing over 90,000 documents that have been provided by AstraZeneca.
  • These documents include internal communications between key players in AstraZeneca from September 2020 until June 2021 and should provide important insights into what AstraZeneca knew about the side effects caused by their vaccine and when this information was known to them. If we were not bringing this case this information would likely never have been shared with anyone outside of AZ.
  • The legal team are tackling the disclosure review in two phases:
    • The team started by doing a general review of the most relevant material that will help us prove our case. Most of these documents were dated from January – March 2021.
    • The second phase of disclosure will focus on the other documents that have been provided. The team are hoping that other relevant documents will be present in this material.
  • The team will then use the most relevant documents to instruct Counsel and obtain a Legal Opinion on the merits of our case. This will be used to help the legal team develop their strategy and represent us most effectively.
  • Once the disclosure phase is complete, the legal team will move to the next stage, which is to instruct experts and speak with witnesses who have knowledge relevant to the factual circumstances of our case.

Covid Inquiry Update

The Covid Inquiry Module 4 Report was published on 16 April 2026. It covered vaccine safety, post-marketing surveillance, and issues with compensation schemes. Baroness Hallett recommended, unequivocally, that the Vaccine Damage Payment Scheme should be reformed to ensure that those injured or bereaved as a result of vaccination should receive more substantive payments from the Government and that injuries constituting less than 60% should also be covered within the Scheme.

These are key points that VIBUK and our Legal Team have been campaigning for. We now have the right recommendations – now we need Government action. As a reminder, our legal action has been necessitated by the failings of the Vaccine Damage Payment Scheme and so reform is central to what we are trying achieve.

We anticipate that the Module 4 recommendations will be responded to in the next 6 months. There has been no substantial update on implementation from the Government – we will keep an eye on developments as they arise.

Together:

Once again, thank you for your belief and support. Together, we’re making a difference on multiple fronts through the courts, in the inquiry, and with government lobbying.

Your donations will help us to continue to do this vital work for the vaccine injured and bereaved today, and for all those families and individuals who come after us.
