Chancellor John Healey has just announced the first Budget of this new Burnham-led government. I wish I could say it marked a turning point for our struggling NHS. But the government has instead refused to deliver additional investment into our health service.
At a time when hundreds of patients are still dying each week due to urgent care delays, thousands are being treated in corridors and millions are stuck on a waiting list that’s only getting longer, this decision is deeply irresponsible. Along with our allies in the SOS NHS coalition, we have put out a joint statement responding to the Budget. You can read it on our website, and please help us spread the word by sharing on social media. |

Prime Minister Andy Burnham has talked a lot about change – including for our NHS and social care systems. But these words mean very little if they are not followed through with concrete action. This Budget was an opportunity for the government to show that they were willing to do whatit takes to rapidly improve social care and community support, improvepatient flow through hospitals and prevent needless patient deaths. The crisis in our health service simply cannot be fixed without additional investment. As we head into what is set to be another devastating winter for NHS patients and staff, Andy Burnham and his government must urgently wake up to this reality. Our movement will keep working hard to hold politicians to account and push for the lifesaving investment our NHS so desperately needs. More actions to come soon. Thanks for your support, Hope at Just Treatment |
