Aprés la Deluge By William Bowles

25 June 2016 — Investigating Imperialism

It’s not nice being called a Nazi, racist, xenophobe but that’s what has been and no doubt, still is, happening to me and others who think like me. It’s the direct result of the propaganda campaign the state and the corporate media have run with since the beginning in making immigration the central theme of the In/Out campaigns.

Confusion reigns!  Continue reading here…

The Tory chickens come home to roost By William Bowles

24 June 2016 — Investigating Imperialism

Ask yourself this: Why has immigration been made the pole around which, this entire referendum ‘debate’, has revolved? Why has the closet Nazi Nigel Farage of UKIP been given so much airtime?

Could it be the masses, hammering at the doors of Fortress Europe after we, that is the US-EU-NATO axis of pure barbarism, destroyed their countries, have something to do with it? Read the rest here

Exiting the EU By William Bowles

10 June 2016 — Investigating Imperialism

I haven’t written a single word about this non-event, precisely because it is a non event. It’s an artificially created argument, with the mainstream reasoning used on both sides, being equally fallacious. A gigantic deception played out with all the pomp and circumstance of a Royal Wedding and just about as empty.

I have to cut the size of the database

25 April 2016

Because I’m such a news junkie, this site has gotten so big that it’s not only slowing down access to all the content it’s also slowing down the entire server! So radical but unfortunate steps have to be taken, like deleting 100s if not thousands of articles. If I had I financial resources I’d move it to a dedicated server but that isn’t going to happen, so stuff has to go!

On my new, dedicated site, Investigating Imperialism, I have almost completed the editing of the almost 800 essays I’ve written here since 2003 and aside from articles that I think deserve a wider viewing, I hope to concentrate on the new site more than here. There is still some cleaning up and so forth to do, but the bulk of it is done.

A quick note…

29 January 2016 — williambowles.info

I know I haven’t been too productive here for some time, aside that is, from being temporally aroused from my slumbers by l’affaire Corbyn awhile back. Not that I haven’t been productive elsewhere in the meantime.

My New/Old Site

I’ve long had a site on WordPress.com itself but until recently, aside from finally getting the tribute site to my dear friend and comrade, Patricia Murphy-Robinson going, also on WordPress.com, until now, I’ve not done much with it. But all that’s changed. I’ve embarked on the gargantuan project of consolidating all, or most of my writing in one location: HERE

Best wishes for the new year

25 December 2015

Well another year goes by and it seems our elites are determined to destroy life as we know it, unless we stop them that is. So, my wishes for the new year are for us to end the insanity of the destruction of life in the name of democracy, when in fact it’s in intrinsic to capitalism’s quest for power and control even if it means destroying our once beautiful planet.

It’s up to you.

Corbyn’s jobs for the boys By William Bowles

Corbyn’s Jobs for the boys By William Bowles

So socialist Jeremy Corbyn, after pressure from the trade union boys who bankroll him, agreed not to make Trident an issue. After all, making nuclear missiles and the submarines that carry them, are jobs for the boys.

“Earlier Mr McCluskey said [the] Unite [trade union] was sympathetic to the argument that Trident nuclear weapons were expensive but added that not renewing the multi-billion pound system would cost some workers their jobs.

“He told a fringe meeting in Brighton: “We won’t be voting in favour of any anti-Trident resolution. The unions who were opposed to Trident are likely to carry the day and that is the way it is, that is the reality.”” – ‘Jeremy Corbyn loses the battle on Trident after trade unionists side with Labour MPs to block the move‘, the Independent, 27 September 2015

“The Bride of death?” By William Bowles

13 October 2003 — williambowles.info

Intro, 26 September 2015: I wrote this thirteen years ago and on rereading it now I think it deserves a fresh airing given as how things have just gone downhill since then with the total demonisation of the Muslim/Arab in the so-called civilised world. And, it must be me that’s changed because I’m even more appalled today by the repellent racism of Kevin Toolis’s muck in the Observer than when I first read it all those years ago.

“The Bride of death?” By William Bowles

This is a kind of followup to the piece I wrote the other day “Let the reader be aware” about the way the media repeats lots of small lies to make one Big Lie, predicated on the approach that swallowing a lot of small lies is a lot easier to do than swallowing one Big One.

My Dilemma By William Bowles

19 September 2015 — williambowles.info

I ended my last piece with this:

But assuming JC [Jeremy Corbyn] makes all the right calls, could it, a reborn Labour Party lead to a new call for an end to the madness of capitalism and exactly 130 years after Morris made his plea?

Think about it. Transform the Labour Party into a vehicle to promote a new socialist vision? Who is kidding who here?

Corbyn’s Dilemma By William Bowles

‘The road to hell is paved with good intentions’

I’m really torn writing this, for on the one hand, Jeremy Corbyn’s (JC) sudden materialisation in the midst of a rampant, Victorian-style imperialist England, like Doctor Who landing in the Tardis, it’s difficult  not to join in the euphoria currently sweeping through what’s left of the left in England  (the current Media Lens has an excellent description of this) and bow down before JC, an almost Christ-like apparition right in the middle of the gangster capitalists in Armani suits who rule us.

Passing the Buk By William Bowles

22 July 2014  — williambowles.info

Well, aside from a few comments I’ve posted on Moon of Alabama, I’ve spent most of the time reading (when I’ve not been compiling) just about everything I could on the subject of the downing of Malaysian Airlines #MH17 and I think it’s pretty obvious that the Russians have been fitted up for this horrendous crime by the Kiev authorities (and possibly others) and, it must be said, they did a pretty bad job of it! If it wasn’t for the craven and complicit corporate/state media in the West simply not reporting on the actual events of the 17 July as they have been revealed, the reality of the frame would be obvious to everyone.

In memorium – Jack Agueros

6 May 2014 — williambowles.info

My dear friend and colleague, Jack Agueros died on Sunday, 4 May 2014. Anybody who has been following this site will know that I had the pleasure and the honour of working with Jack for six years, when he hired me to design and build El Museo del Barrio in Manhattan’s East Harlem of which he was director. Jack had been ill with Alzheimer’s for some time but I was lucky enough to pay him a visit in 20008 whilst he still recognised those around him, but it was still heartbreaking to see my old friend, a shadow of his former self. You are sorely missed Jack. There’s an obituary to him here in the NYT and a much better one here, in el Diario. Salud Jack
