The Crisis of Civilization – Trailer

26 January, 2011 — IRPD

The Crisis of Civilization is a documentary feature film investigating how global crises like ecological disaster, financial meltdown, dwindling oil reserves, terrorism and food shortages are converging symptoms of a single, failed global system.

Over the past few months, we have been quietly beavering away on an exciting new project – a feature-length documentary film, inspired by our recently released book, A User’s Guide to the Crisis of Civilization: And How to Save It (Pluto/Macmillan, 2010).

We have been collaborating with British film-maker Dean Puckett, whose last feature film Elephant in the Room (2008) won him Best Director at the Portobello Film Festival and Best UK Documentary at the London Independent Film Festival, to create a unique, creative and fun movie experience that will raise consciousness of our current civilizational predicament, as well as viable alternatives.

Featuring IPRD Executive Director, Dr. Nafeez Ahmed, the film will take you on a surreal journey through an alarming tapestry of global systemic failure, and will offer a stark warning that the inability to recognize the interconnections between different crises and their structural causes is preventing us, as a civilization, from saving ourselves.

Take a look at the film website at www.CrisisofCivilization.com where you can find our more about the film, watch the official trailer, subscribe to our mailing list to keep updated of our progress and the impending release date, and check out The Learning Machine archive of news and articles on the different crises we explore in the film itself.
