Documentary: The Music of Miles Davis

The life and music of legendary jazz trumpeter Miles Davis are examined in the 1986 PBS documentary “Miles Ahead: The Music of Miles Davis.”

Produced by Mark Obenhaus and Yvonne Smith this film traces the fascinating career of the man who defined the sound of contemporary jazz.

Miles Davis is aided in telling his story by performance clips and interviews with those who knew him including Herbie Hancock, Wayne Shorter, George Benson, Dizzy Gillespie, and Tony Williams.

Additionally Miles Davis is featured in segments from his performance at the 1986 New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival.
