❗️Israel deploys AI, paid influence, and covert campaigns to shape global narrative on Palestine

Saturday, 11 April 2026 — The Cradle

Researchers and digital rights advocates warned this week of an expanding, state-backed effort to shape global narratives on Palestine, pointing to coordinated propaganda campaigns driven by Israel’s public diplomacy apparatus, according to a report from Middle East Eye. Speaking during a webinar hosted by the Global Alliance for Palestine, panelists described a sophisticated messaging ecosystem combining covert public relations operations, influencer networks, and tightly managed digital outreach in the wake of the genocide in Gaza.

At the center of these efforts is Israel’s national public diplomacy directorate, widely known as Hasbara, which speakers said has mobilized government ministries and private contractors to flood platforms with curated narratives. Investigations cited during the event pointed to secret campaigns and a project reportedly involving paid influencers, alongside significant state funding channeled through diplomatic and diaspora institutions to counter accusations of war crimes and reshape public opinion since October 2023.

Participants highlighted a shift toward data-driven influence, with targeted advertising, artificial intelligence, and opaque online campaigns amplifying messaging at scale. Researchers pointed to limited transparency around government-linked ads, while others underscored the role of open-source intelligence in exposing inconsistencies, verifying events on the ground, and challenging official claims. Despite concerns over algorithmic bias and content suppression, speakers noted that digital spaces have also enabled wider reach for Palestinian voices, signaling an intensifying battle over narrative control in the information age.
