Can you send an urgent email to your MP now?
The government announced new legislation in yesterday’s King’s Speech to create a single patient record (SPR) for each NHS patient, and reporting from the Guardian suggests the new law will force GPs and hospitals to share our health data for these records.[1]
We know that Palantir has already talked to the government about the SPR. And the Financial Times revealed that Palantir has been given “unlimited access” to identifiable health records for hospitals already using its £330m NHS Federated Data Platform tools[2] – despite NHS England claiming that wouldn’t happen.
Put this together, and you’ve got the very real danger of all GPs and hospitals being forced by law to hand over our complete medical records, with our names on them, to a US spy tech firm.
If you want to make sure that doesn’t happen, email your MP now and ask them to stand up at the King’s Speech debate today and on Monday to demand a guarantee from the government that Palantir will not be given the contract for the Single Patient Record.
It’ll take less than two minutes, and we’ve included a suggested message for you to send.
Keir Starmer’s government is under immense pressure right now, and he knows he needs to listen to the public and our MPs on the issues we care most about.
And right now is make or break time for Palantir’s future in our NHS – its contract expires next year, and there is a real chance it could be cancelled because of the massive threat to patient trust and the lack of respect from Palantir’s leaders for the values of our NHS.
This is the perfect moment to demand real guarantees on patient data, and even cut Palantir out of the NHS for good – but we have to act fast.
Our MPs will have a lot on their plates as so many important issues from the King’s Speech are being debated in the coming days, and that’s why they need to hear from us .
Getting an email from you today could make all the difference to what they prioritise. We need as many MPs as possible ready to stand up and demand guarantees on Palantir from the government.
Palantir is a secretive US spy tech company with strong ties to Donald Trump and shady behind-the-scenes lobbying operations linked to Peter Mandelson. It has a terrible track record around the world. It should not be allowed to get its hands on our medical records, and has no place in our NHS.
Please email your MP today and ask them to use this crucial moment to demand a cast-iron guarantee from the government that Palantir will not be given the contract for the Single Patient Record.
It’s a simple request, and the government should be able to give a straight answer – yes or no.
