Earlier this year, Declassified UK revealed that over 2,000 Britons have served for Israel since October 2023.
None of them have been prosecuted, and the Metropolitan Police’s War Crimes Unit has just announced the closure of its scoping exercise into ten British nationals accused of war crimes and crimes against humanity while fighting in Gaza.
Like you, I’ve spent the past two and a half years watching atrocity after atrocity in Gaza.
To think that the people responsible for some of these crimes could be living amongst us in Britain is horrifying.
Now Declassified UK and the International Centre of Justice for Palestinians are launching a major campaign to demand that the UK government monitor and investigate the activities of British nationals who have served for Israel amid the Gaza genocide.
And we need your help.
If our government doesn’t care whether its citizens might be committing war crimes, that doesn’t mean that we shouldn’t.
So in the interests of transparency, public safety, and justice, we are launching a major campaign to demand the UK government:
-
Track the movements of Brits who have fought for Israel
-
Subject them to secondary screening at ports of entry
-
And conduct robust investigations in compliance with domestic and international law
Our campaign letter has already been signed by over 60 prominent figures – from leading lawyers and genocide scholars to British military veterans and politicians.
We are now opening the letter up to the public, and we need as many signatures as possible.
Please click here to sign your name to this letter, and share it with as many people as you can.
Nobody wants to live next to a war criminal, join us in calling on Shabana Mahmood and Yvette Cooper to take steps to help keep our communities safe.
In solidarity,
John.
