The New Dark Age

On April 18th protesters gathered oppose Britain First marching through Manchester.

They were kettled, beaten, pepper sprayed, choked, hair was pulled, sexualised violence was used. Around 150 were injured by the police. Medical access was frequently obstructed.

Those that were there have sent us their testimony, and they have been gathered into a report.

One Day in Manchester documents shocking examples of extreme police violence, protesters attacked whilst kettled, police deliberately not wearing identification and manipulating body-worn video and evidence gathering practices.

The report makes recommendations, and ends with the conclusion that :

This kind of deliberately violent and unaccountable policing is reminiscent of the policing of the G20 protests in London in 2009, and the consequent murder of Ian Tomlinson.

If left unchecked, the risk that we see another brutal killing as a result of policing is a very real one.
