1. HOUSMANS IMPROVEMENTS & A REQUEST FOR YOUR SUPPORT
As ever, thank you so much for your support this year. We are continuing to try and make Housmans as good a shop as it can be, and as indispensable a space as possible to you.
Work in progress on the new basement
Amongst changes to look forward to in the new year, we hope very soon to have completed work on a brand new, purpose-built, well-lit and well-labelled second-hand section in the renovated basement. You may also have noticed that work is being carried out on the roof of our building – this is to build an additional floor which will add to our capacity to provide affordable office space to campaign groups.
Housmans still needs your help though, and the best way of doing that is by getting your books from us, and encouraging your friends and family to do the same, particularly so at this time of the year.
With that in mind we’d like to ask if you might consider sending out this 140 character message via any social media networks you have access to:
This xmas, rather than using union-busting, tax-avoiding #Amazon please support your local radical bookshop, such as housmans.com
Of course, please feel free to amend this message or write your own. We’re keeping a catalogue of reasons to boycott Amazon on our website here:

Last night the BBC broadcast a Panorama exposé of working conditions at Amazon depots. If you missed it, it is still available to watch on iPlayer here: http://tinyurl.com/q8ft4u4
