1. Melissa Gira Grant’s talk has been cancelled due to visa problems

Sadly the planned talk at Housmans with Melissa Gira Grant on her book ‘Playing The Whore’ has had to be cancelled due to visa problems. We hope to rearrange the event with her at some point in the future. Sorry for any disappointment.

“The Ain’t I A Woman Collective is a black feminist community which aims to centre the voices of women with African ancestry in Europeand beyond. We believe that there is a need for more creative spaces for black women’s voices, writing and well-being, and work to constantly work to carve out such space. 10.  The Fuse Book Club – forthcoming titles
Housmans has a monthly book club which usually meets on the second Thursday of the month, starting at 7pm in the shop. Forthcoming titles under discussion are:

Thursday 12th March
Slaughterhouse Five by Kurt Vonnegut

Vonnegut’s classic satirical WW2 novel, first published in 1969

Thursday 9th April 
Half the Sky by Nicholas Kristof and Sheryl WuDunn 
An investigation into, and call to arms against, the oppression of women and girls worldwide.

11. London Pacifism and Nonviolence Discussion Group

Housmans has a regular Pacifism and Nonviolence Discussion Group, who meet on the second Tuesday of the month. All are welcome, but please be prepared to join in the discussion. Please try to turn up by 7pm sharp. 

On Tuesday 14 April 2015,  we’re looking at PACIFISM AND THE GENERAL ELECTION.
