NEWS
1. The Vaults Opening & Housmans 70th Anniversary  Party
Thanks to the generosity of so many of you who gave to our crowd-funder,  we’re very happy to be able to announce the grand opening of our shop  expansion, The Vaults, which also neatly marks the 70th anniversary of the  opening of Housmans in 1945.

There’ll be plenty of free drinks and maybe even some Twiglets!
We’ll start at 6.30pm and go on till around 9pm. The date:  Thursday 4th November. Please do join us, and help us celebrate.

Please note the Vaults are in Housmans’ basement, down a flight of stairs, and despite our wishes and attempt to do so, it has proved  impossible to make the basement wheelchair accessible.

Here’s to the next 70 years!

This photo was taken at the shops opening:
From left to right: Howard Whitten, Eileen Ager, Hugh Fausset, Patrick  Figgis, Laurence Housmans, Llewellyn Kier, Geoffrey Gilbert, Trevor Davies,  Henry Rutland, Irene Barclay, Doris Figgis, Duncan Christie, John Barclay and  Harry Mister.

Housmans would like to say a massive thank you to Michael and  Gareth, two very talented designers who have created a series of four bookmarks as  part of our 70th anniversary celebrations. Now available with any  book bought in the shop. Be sure to ask for one if you aren’t offered  one! The rear of each bookmark has an explanation of each image’s significance…
