Today, 38 Degrees members went out on the streets in Streatham. They added name after name to a petition telling all your local politicians to save the NHS. And it’s not just here – 38 Degrees members were out in hundreds of locations across the country. [1]
You can help, even if you didn’t make it in person this time. The aim is to get at least 500 new signatures in Streatham today – 500 more voices saying the NHS is precious, and that we’ll fight to keep it safe from cuts and privatisation. You’ve already signed the petition, but some of your friends and family won’t have. Please can you share it with them now to make sure they do? In the run up to the election, massive “Save Our NHS” petitions to every single candidate in every single constituency will send a strong signal: we love the NHS, and any politician who wants to damage it has a fight on their hands.
But first we need to make these petitions as big as possible. Then, as the election draws close, we’ll hand them in to every single candidate and let them all know that they need to properly fund our NHS, and to protect it from the private companies trying to carve it up.
So much has already been achieved today – we’ve made headlines in countless local and national newspapers, we’ve talked to our neighbours, and to strangers.
