NHS Charging, data sharing and the broader Hostile Environment are undermining the principles at the heart of our NHS, prioritising immigration enforcement above people’s health and destroying the idea that care should be available to all who need it.
Together we can end NHS charging.
We are organising in NHS Trusts and communities around the country and we need you to join us, connect with people, and start a campaign wherever you are. Currently there are groups in Birmingham, Liverpool, Bristol, Cambridge, Brighton, Swansea, Glasgow, London and Manchester.
Please get in touch and we can connect you with existing campaigns or if there isn’t one organise an action planning to get your campaign underway – JamesSkinner@medact.org
Opposition to the policy is growing, with the Academy of Medical Royal Colleges, The Royal College of Midwives, and The BMA all calling on the Government to stop charging. This is thanks to healthcare workers campaigning and pushing their representative bodies to speak out. NHS Trusts have a duty to stand up for their patients, to support their staff, and to ensure that everyone can access the care they need – we need to push them to speak out too. This is why hundreds of healthcare workers across the country are asking their Trust to join them and call on the Government to end NHS charging.
And don’t forget to share our Letter to the Department of Health

From challenging the Hostile Environment in the NHS, to tackling climate change and the UK’s role in the global arms trade, Medact unites thousands of people who work in health to create a world in which everyone can truly achieve their human right to health. Read more…
