17 February 2012 — Big Six Share
Yesterday EDF, one of the big six energy firms, announced a yearly profit of £2.5 Billion. This vindicates our claim that the big six are making excessive profit. While many freeze, a few profit. It’s now time they paid a levy to redress this balance. In response to these obscene profits we need your help to demonstrate mass public support for our campaign. We need to raise £1000 to pay for public opinion polling – will you help by donating just £10?

Thanks to your support, in less than a week our campaign is already having a big effect on the debate. The Independent has today reported on its front page that OFGEM, the energy regulator, is now supporting two of the End the Big 6 Energy Fix campaign demands – threatening energy companies with a price cap and an inquiry.
With Centrica due to report even bigger windfall profits next week the time is ripe to turn up the heat. Public polling would allow us to demonstrate mass public support for a levy on the big six; a levy that would pay for thousands of homes to be insulated, helping to save money, the environment and creating jobs in the process.

We need just 100 people to donate £10 – less for those on tight incomes, or more if you can afford it. Any surplus above £1000 will fund more campaigning on this issue.
Remember the big six energy companies want you to do absolutely nothing – so that after next week they can cosily return to business as usual.

Thanks for all your help and let’s continue to work together to get good results and a fair energy deal for everyone.
