High casualty numbers in Syria are reported daily by the media, even though a blackout makes them unverifiable. Things became murkier after a human rights site, which enjoyed frequent citations, split in two and began giving conflicting reports.
Ever since its failure to win United Nations Security Council backing for “regime change” in Syria, Washington and its lackeys in the corporate media have been unrelenting in voicing their great moral outrage at both the violence of the Assad regime and the seeming indifference to it all by the likes of Russia and China. Washington is no doubt long in forgetting those that thwart the will of the “international community.” After all, as Secretary of State Hillary Clinton stated, the “travesty” of the Russian and Chinese veto left the entire Security Council “neutered.”
Corruption across Whitehall! Three words I never expected to put in one sentence, but the evidence of Deputy Assistant Commissioner Sue Akers from Scotland Yard at the Leveson Inquiry is complete dynamite. DAC Akers is leading the investigation into allegations that employees of Rupert Murdoch‘s News International ran a covert, systemic operation in which they paid huge sums to public officials in the police, the military, the Department of Health and many other areas of Whitehall. The payments were dressed up and in at least one case involved sums as high as £80,000.
Three words John Snow never expected to hear in one sentence, “Corruption across Whitehall”? Who is he kidding! We have a government owned, lock, stock and smoking barrel by big business. Corruption is rife at every level.

The opposition Syrian National Council has already demanded that the participants supply weapons to the militants of the so-called Syrian People’s Army.

“The very logic of such behavior is counterproductive and quite dangerous. It will not lead to anything good. In any case, it will not help resolve the situation in the country experiencing a conflict. Worse, it will cause further imbalance in the entire international security system and undermine the UN’s authority and central role. I will recall that the vetoright is not a whim but an integral part of the world order, which, as a matter of fact, was enshrined in the UN Charter at the insistence of the U.S.”
