Our Letter to Andy Burnham – Save Our NHS!

Tuesday, 7 July 2026 — Just Treatment

This weekend marked the 78th anniversary of the founding of the NHS. That’s nearly eight decades of universal healthcare, free at the point of use, for tens of millions of people.

At its best, our public healthcare system has been the envy of the world. But over the last 15 years it has been decimated by cuts, chronic underfunding, fragmentation, and privatisation – and is now in a perilous state.

Now, barring something unexpected, Andy Burnham is set to become the new Prime Minister. It is vital that he demonstrates true leadership and change by charting a different path forward for our NHS.

That’s why we have joined 18 other health campaigning groups and trade unions in writing to Burnham, urging him to invest in the NHS and protect our health service from profit-making corporations – including ditching the dangerous US-UK pharma deal. Our letter has today been covered in the Guardian ⬇️

You can read the full text of our open letter here.

Now we need your help to make sure Burnham engages with our letter and responds to the demands we have raised.

We have shared coverage of the letter on our social media, and we’re asking Just Treatment supporters who are on these platforms to share and add a comment underneath the posts tagging Andy Burnham, so that he cannot ignore our movement.

You can find these posts on Facebook, X, Bluesky and Instagram. If you can, please share them, tag Burnham in the comments, and urge him to respond to the demands!

No matter who sits in 10 Downing Street, we will continue fighting to ensure our NHS gets the lifesaving investment it needs, and is protected from big pharma, big tech and private healthcare companies.

Thanks for your support,

Hope at Just Treatment

Just Treatment is fighting to put patients and the NHS before profit. We’ll never take a penny from corporate interests – that’s why we’re relying on your support.
