American journalist Jeremy Loffredo is on his way home after being informally deported by the Israeli police. Following an arbitrary arrest by the Israeli military at a West Bank checkpoint, Jeremy was blindfolded, shackled in a military truck, then held in solitary confinement for three days with little food or water. Israeli authorities had falsely accused him of “supporting an enemy during wartime” for legitimate reporting he performed for The Grayzone.

💯CNN (https://edition.cnn.com/2024/10/19/politics/us-israel-iran-intelligence-documents/index.html): The 🇺🇸US has confirmed the leak of classified Pentagon documents concerning 🇮🇱Israel’s plans to attack 🇮🇷Iran.
🖥According to CNN, the documents, classified “Top Secret,” were published online on October 18. An investigation into the incident is currently underway.
✏️The documents, dated October 15 and 16, began circulating online Friday after being posted on Telegram by an account called “Middle East Spectator (https://t.me/Middle_East_Spectator/11183).”
🔖The documents contain information about the 🇮🇱IDF’s preparations for a strike on Iran, including the development of long-range missiles, aerial refueling exercises, and covert drone operations.
⚠️The leak is “deeply concerning,” a US official told CNN.
🤫They are marked “Top Secret” and have markings indicating they are meant to be seen only by the US and its “Five Eyes” allies — Australia, Canada, New Zealand and the United Kingdom.

The image of smoldering plastic in a little pit on the side of the street, white wisps of smoke dancing up, burned forever in my brain. I saw it, and many other pits like it, when doing moral educational research in Bangalore, India back in 1998. So the recent Nature study on how much plastic is open burned around the world1—with India in the #1 spot globally—brought that image flooding back to my consciousness. Only now though, do I attempt to do the math. I visited 26 years ago. Over those two and a half decades, how much countless plastic has been burned on the streets of Delhi, Kolkata, Mysore, etc.? In 2020, Bangalore open burned 55,000 tons and Delhi, 144,000 tons. Year after year, India is burning millions of tons—5.8 million in 2020—and that’s just one country. In total, the world open burned about 22 million tons of plastic in 2020, while another 30 million tons ended up wild in the landscape.

In yet another horrific act of violence, “Israel” committed a gruesome massacre behind the al-Qassam Mosque in the Beit Lahia Project area, north of Gaza.
The brutal Israeli airstrikes targeted homes surrounding the mosque, killing 73 civilians so far. This latest assault adds to the growing toll of casualties as Israeli occupation forces continue their relentless genocide and ethnic cleansing of Palestinians by bombarding densely populated residential areas in Gaza, particularly northern Gaza.
Insurgent forces always have a completely different mindset than the armies of sovereign states, in that they are motivated by ideology and a desire to defend their homeland or people to a far greater degree.

Given the shift in American strategy from advocating for a ceasefire to supporting an open war, some argue that the Resistance likewise must adapt its own strategy.
I have a confession to make.
When a journalist writes this it generally means they will proceed to reveal something they hope will actually show them in a good light or justified in some way. But I have a real confession to make, of something I did that was wrong.
Zionism and U.S. hegemony are doomed to keep declining; this means that the decisive question of the 21st century is how the anti-imperialist bloc will choose to usher in the post-American era. Will the powers which challenge the U.S. refrain from serious military action against the USA and the Zionist entity? Or will they take on a more proactive role, and commit to defeating these genocidal regimes by any means necessary? The latter option does not have to entail any reckless behavior; it would merely look like a continuation of the path that Iran is presently on, wherein it’s intervening against the entity with calculated restraint. The same is true for Russia, which fully committed to the path of resistance when it acted to rescue the Donbass from Banderite terror. As these countries have continued with their anti-imperialist wars, the decisive question’s answer has become clearer.

British counterterrorism police on Thursday raided the home and seized several electronic devices belonging to The Electronic Intifada’s associate editor Asa Winstanley.
Approximately 10 officers arrived at Winstanley’s North London home before 6 am and served the journalist with warrants and other papers authorizing them to search his house and vehicle for devices and documents.

Live hearings begin this Monday, 21 October, at 2pm, and will look at deployments from 1983-1992.
The UK government and police – the British state – made clear today they are waging a war of intimidation against the country’s independent journalists in a desperate attempt to silence them.
Asa Winstanley, associate editor of The Electronic Intifada, had multiple electronic devices confiscated by British counterterrorism police during their raid on his residence on Thursday.
Before six in the morning, about ten police officers showed up at Winstanley’s residence in North London and issued the journalist with warrants and other documents allowing them to search his home and car for electronics and papers.
“Israel” bombarded al-Ahli Baptist Hospital in Gaza where 500 patients were massacred, including injured women and children.
The senseless crime drew wide condemnation at the time but to no avail. The Israeli occupation continues its policy of absolute aggression against everything, not sparing hospitals, ambulances, residential buildings, schools, or worship houses.
“Israel” can do all of these things because no one has held the occupation accountable for all the massacres yet, as the US and many Western countries continue to provide it with diplomatic cover and the arms it needs to carry out these massacres.
