Support James from MAP in the London Marathon

map-marathon.jpg“I’m really proud to be running my first marathon for MAP. It has been a real journey since I got my place. I’ve been running in rain, darkness, snow, hail and sunshine over the past five months. Ultimately unlike lots of other runners, I will be running for the charity that I work for so I am very well placed to know exactly what we’ll be doing with the funds raised.

“In the Gaza Strip there is an ongoing chronic emergency situation and MAP’s work is more focused on strengthening emergency services. Running the 26.2 miles in the London marathon is a bigger distance than the entire length of Gaza. During the run I’ll know that all my efforts go into helping ensure that MAP can provide rapid emergency support for the 1.5 million Palestinians who live there.

“I’m not looking forward to the Monday morning after the race. I did the Kingston 16-mile run a couple of weeks ago and could barely move the next day. While MAP works with disability physiotherapists out in the region we sadly don’t have any here, so I’ll have to arrange my own sports massage!

“I would like to thank of all you who have sponsored me for the run. When I am feeling the pain 20 miles in I hope to summon the energy of all of those who have backed me, and I’ll make sure to let you know how I got on in next week’s Monitor”
