My dear friend and colleague, Jack Agueros died on Sunday, 4 May 2014. Anybody who has been following my writing will know that I had the pleasure and the honour of working with Jack for six years, when he hired me to design and build El Museo del Barrio in Manhattan’s East Harlem of which he was director. Jack had been ill with Alzheimer’s for some time but I was lucky enough to pay him a visit in 20008 whilst he still recognised those around him, but it was still heartbreaking to see my old friend, a shadow of his former self.
