NEWS /ACTIONS

1. Housmans Peace Diary 2019 + White Poppies

Every year we publish the world-renowned Housmans Peace Diary – this is the 66th edition. It includes a World Peace Directory listing almost 1500 national and international peace, environmental and human rights organisations from around the world. This year’s special feature celebrates 60 years of the Housmans & Peace News building in London, and the wide range of fellow dissidents who’ve found a welcome here. It looks at the role of the building’s denizens – and the building itself – in many areas of society and in various significant political events. This year’s cover designer is Phil Wrigglesworth.
Available to buy in-store and online here: http://www.housmans.com/diary.php

Also don’t forget you can get your white poppies at Housmans, £1 each.

3. Autonomy Now series at Housmans

Look out for a new (hopefully) monthly series of anarchist events taking place predominantly at Housmans, but occasionally in other venues. There’ll be a dedicated website and more info coming very soon, but for now check out the launch event with Ruth Kinna below. Some interesting talks lined up for the new year.

4. Protest: Together For Climate Justice / Saturday, December 1, 2018 – 12:00 to 16:00

This December in Poland, countries will negotiate the crucial next steps to keep the Paris climate deal on the rails. It’s urgent. But we know we can’t depend on governments to represent us at UN talks infiltrated by fossil fuel interests. We need to hear the voices of those in the front line of climate change, those whose land and water is threatened by fossil fuel industry pollution, and those fighting for climate jobs.

We need solidarity from all parts of society, as we saw in the unprecedented mobilisation against Trump’s UK visit this summer. The government of Poland wants to suppress the voice of civil society, but we will speak out and send a clear message to our own government to act on climate now. Join us on 1st December in London.
