GILAD ATZMON: 200 ISRAELI WAR CRIMINALS BETTER HOPE FOR PALESTINIAN AMNESTY

    24 November 24, 2010 — Gilad Atzmon

war-crimes.jpgA few days ago, British Chief of Defence Staff General Sir David Richards admitted that victory in Afghanistan is unachievable. “In conventional war,” said Richards, “defeat and victory is very clear cut and is symbolised by troops marching into another nation’s capital.”

It took a few years for British military elites to admit that the war in Afghanistan cannot lead anywhere : a valuable lesson to learn from mid to late 20th century warfare, is that conventional military might cannot easily defeat mass civilian resistance.

It is interesting to reflect too, that the Jewish state has exercised a ‘strategy’ of occupation for sixty two years — and for some reason the penny has still failed to drop. The Israelis are still convinced that they can manage to knock down the resilient Palestinians using siege, indiscriminate killing, carpet bombardment and chemical warfare. The results are pretty obvious: and bearing in mind that Israel considers itself to be a ‘Jews only democracy’, then every Jewish Israeli is complicit in a colossal war crime against a civilian population.

Bush Lies – Not Just To Us, But To Himself

Why should George W. Bush have been “angry” to learn in late 2007 of the “high-confidence” unanimous judgment of all 16 U.S. intelligence agencies that Iran had stopped working on a nuclear weapon four years earlier?

George W. Bush can’t fight for freedom and authorise torture By Boris Johnson

    15 November, 2010 — Daily Telegraph

[I didn’t make this up. WB]

“George W. Bush can’t fight for freedom and authorise torture” – Boris Johnson

If the West’s aim is to spread the rule of law, it cannot be achieved by vile means, argues Boris Johnson.

bush-waterboard.jpgYou can’t fight for freedom and authorise torture, Mr Bush; George Bush has defended waterboarding as an George Bush has defended waterboarding as an ‘enhanced interrogation technique’ Photo: AP

It is not yet clear whether George W Bush is planning to cross the Atlantic to flog us his memoirs, but if I were his PR people I would urge caution. As book tours go, this one would be an absolute corker. It is not just that every European capital would be brought to a standstill, as book-signings turned into anti-war riots. The real trouble — from the Bush point of view — is that he might never see Texas again.

One moment he might be holding forth to a great perspiring tent at Hay-on-Wye. The next moment, click, some embarrassed member of the Welsh constabulary could walk on stage, place some handcuffs on the former leader of the Free World, and take him away to be charged. Of course, we are told this scenario is unlikely. Dubya is the former leader of a friendly power, with whom this country is determined to have good relations. But that is what torture-authorising Augusto Pinochet thought. And unlike Pinochet, Mr Bush is making no bones about what he has done.

Unless the 43rd president of the United States has been grievously misrepresented, he has admitted to authorising and sponsoring the use of torture. Asked whether he approved of ‘waterboarding’ in three specific cases, he told his interviewer that ‘damn right’ he did, and that this practice had saved lives in America and Britain. It is hard to overstate the enormity of this admission.

    G20 and the Federal Reserve’s Dictate 11.11.2010 | 11:19 | PUSTOVOITOVA Elena

The US Federal Reserve announced it would additionally pump some freshly printed $600b into the economy via a new treasuries buying program. The message thus sent to the world is that as always the Federal Reserve is going to advance its own interests regardless of the impact of its steps on the global economy… Access to the on/off button of the FRS printing press opens opportunities to manipulate the currency, to arbitrarily send inflation sprawling or generate liquidity droughts, and therefore to trigger crises. The US crises of 1948-1949, 1953-1954, 1957-1958, 1960-1961, 1969-1971, and 1973-1975 were widely attributed to the FRS…

The incorporation of Russia’s armed forces into NATO would automatically give Brussels control over the country’s nuclear arsenals which are the backbone of its military might… As soon as NATO strategists get a grip on Russia, any talk of G8 or G20 would stop to make sense. It’s the world’s largest energy project, the world’s largest construction and the world’s largest capital project and, hard as it is to believe in this day and age, there’s been no comprehensive assessment of its environmental, economic, or social impact. It should be noted that Canadais the largest supplier of oil to the US amounting to 1/5th of their needs…

We speak with the Electronic Privacy Information Center and the American Civil Liberties Union, as well as New York City Councilman David Greenfield, who introduced a resolution to ban the use of the full body scanners in airports within the city.

Nat King Cole’s Message to the TSA

19 November, 2010 — Jazz on the Tube

It’s hard to resist weighing in to the TSA scandal…especially since I just canceled a flight to Toronto to drive instead so I can avoid the “handlers.”

Here’s a song by Nat King Cole with some advice to the lunatics who run the TSA:

    “Straighten up and fly right!”

I hear Orlando is throwing the TSA out of its airport and replacing them with private security, an option open to EVERY airport in the US.

Straighten up and fly right TSA or you’re going to find yourself out of every serious airport in America (and nobody’s going to miss you)…

Top Ten Reasons Why Black Leaders Are Ignoring President Obama’s Good Cop-Bad Cop Attack on Social Security

The current raid is being led by nobody less than Barack Obama himself. Only Nixon could go to China, only Clinton could end welfare, and only a black Democrat can undermine social security. Which would you choose: a full-body scan or a pat-down?

    18 November, 2010 — Washington Post

[After reading the story on the man who refused to suffer the indignity of a full body scanner or what the TSA call an ‘enhanced pat down’ and was banned from flying, the Washington Post has a poll on the issue.]

Airline passengers who object to any type of physical screening are not going to fly anywhere, the head of the Transportation Security Administration told a congressional committee Tuesday.

Consumer rights activist Ralph Nader has called the measures — the pat-downs and the scanners — “extremely voyeuristic and intrusive.” An Ashburn man is organizing a national “opt-out day” for the day before Thanksgiving. He is urging travelers to decline to use the full-body scanners and demand enhanced pat-downs to increase awareness of the technique.

Which would you choose: a full-body scan or a pat-down?

This is a non-scientific user poll. Results are not statistically valid and cannot be assumed to reflect the views of Washington Post users as a group or the general population.

Protesters shot dead as Haiti cholera toll tops 1,000 By Bill Van Auken

    17 November 2010 — WSWS

Haiti remains tense in the wake of Monday’s violent clashes between protesters and United Nations troops that left at least two dead and 16 wounded in Cap-Haitien, the country’s second largest city.

The port city, approximately 300 kilometers north of the capital of Port-au-Prince, was still largely paralyzed on Tuesday, with schools, public offices and businesses shut, streets blocked by barricades of burning tires and sporadic gunfire reported. The bridge leading to the city’s airport was blocked with welded metal barriers.

The United Nations sent a contingent of Spanish troops to reinforce its garrison in Cap-Haitien.

    17 November, 2010 — Democracy Now

A federal jury in New York is deliberating in a landmark trial of the first former Guantánamo detainee to be tried in the civilian court system. On Monday, the jury appeared deadlocked after a juror asked to be excused, saying she was being attacked for her conclusions about the defendant, Ahmed Khalfan Ghailani. A Tanzanian national, Ghailani faces conspiracy and murder charges related to the 1998 U.S. embassy bombings in Kenya and Tanzania that killed 224 people and wounded thousands.
