Europe Has No Intention to Clean Out Augean Stables Left by Kiev

31.05.2014 | 00:00 | Natalia MEDEN

Like in a wave of magic wand European media stopped intimidating people with the threat coming from the East as the presidential election in Ukraine wound up. The threat looked especially ominous at the time Europe marks the 100th anniversary since the start of World War I… Chancellor Angela Merkel opened a major exhibition marking the centenary of the First World War in Berlin on May 28. In her speech there she avoided mentioning the rise of tension in the heart of Europe. The European elite have other headaches than the after-Maidan Ukraine. This is the time of redrawing the Brussels political landscape and it’s much more important than cleaning out the Poroshenko Augean Stables…

Economic Union in Heart of Europe

31.05.2014 | 00:00 | Yuri BARANCHIK

The experts were still discussing the results of historic Russia and China summit and the strategically important gas agreement signed on May 21 as another, no less important, event took place on May 29. In Astana the presidents of Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan signed the treaty on establishing the Eurasian Economic Union also known as the Eurasian Union (EaU) to come into force starting from January 1, 2015. «Today we are creating together a powerful and attractive centre of economic development, a major regional market which brings together more than 170 million people», Russian President Vladimir Putin said…

Why Richard Morningstar Is Threatening Azerbaijan with a Maidan

30.05.2014 | 06:00 | Vyacheslav MIKHAILOV

Several days ago Richard Morningstar, the U.S. Ambassador in Baku, made a statement in an interview with the Azerbaijani office of Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty of a sort which diplomats do not usually dare to make. The American suggested that one of the lessons Baku should learn from the events in Ukraine is that the Maidan could repeat itself in Azerbaijan… The American diplomat’s statement regarding the possibility of an «Azerbaijani Maidan» should be considered together with the previous speech of James Warlick, the U.S. Co-Chair of the Minsk Group on the resolution of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. The speech took place May 7 at the Carnegie Endowment in Washington. The ideas expressed by Warlick – and he unambiguously suggested retuning the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict to the situation at the end of the 1980s – was received very frostily in Yerevan…

European Politics Will Be Different From Today On

30.05.2014 | 00:00 | Pyotr ISKENDEROV

The European Parliament election made Eurosceptics big winners. The never relenting obsession to make Ukraine break up with Russia has started to undermine the fragile basis of European security allowing nationalists and isolationists make significant gains. The Petro Poroshenko’s victory in Ukraine with ultra right and nationalists gaining more seats in parliament changes the correlation of forces inside the European Union and affects the EU-Kiev-Moscow relationship. Ukraine became consolidated around an oligarch while the European parliament has internal divisions exacerbated. «European politics will be different from today on», said Doru Frantescu, policy director and co-founder of VoteWatch Europe, an independent Brussels-based organization that tracked opinion polls in the run-up to the elections…

Bilderberg Elite Gather in Denmark to «Circle their Wagons»

29.05.2014 | 12:00 | Wayne MADSEN

«Bilderberg 2014» chose Copenhagen, Denmark as their venue for their annual «off-the-record» meetings and side chats that adhere to so-called «Chatham House Rule»… The Chatham House Rule states: «Participants are free to use the information received, but neither the identity nor the affiliation of the speaker(s), nor that of any other participant, may be revealed». Among the topics on the Bilderberg agenda this year are those that put the global elites in a crisis mode… To keep NSA’s interests at the forefront, former NSA director General Keith Alexander, is in attendance at Bilderberg 2014… Joining Alexander in Copenhagen is Tom Donilon, President Barack Obama’s former national security adviser, and Henry Kissinger, the eminence grise for major cabalistic conspiracies over the last two generations. Also in Copenhagen is John Sawers, the head of Britain’s MI-6 and an expert in the Chatham House Rule…

The Strategic Alliance Being Overlooked between Russia and China

29.05.2014 | 00:00 | Dmitry MININ

Russian President Vladimir Putin’s visit to Shanghai on 20-21 May drew the attention of the whole world… If we look closely at the «Joint Statement of the Russian Federation and the People’s Republic of China on a new stage in full-scale partnership and strategic relations» adopted by the Heads of State, it is not difficult to see that the document contains a number of elements similar to an agreement creating a military and political alliance, but without final legal implementation. After all, if the implementation procedure maybe needed to be done in a very short time, it is much more difficult to agree on the principles. A kind of standby agreement is always ready to go, however. Russia and China have called it a «new type» of interstate relations…

How Long Will Europe Pay Tribute to USA?

29.05.2014 | 00:00 | Yuri BARANCHIK

…Marie Harf told French President François Hollande that the United States wanted the Mistral deal suspended the very same day Russian Energomash was asked by US partners to increase from 29 to 37 the number of unrivaled rocket engines (RD-180s) it sells to propel vital U.S. military and intelligence satellites into space. On May 8 the US Federal Claims Court ended a short-lived ban on domestic firms purchasing the RD-180. The ruling took place after hearing the opinions of the U.S. State, Treasury and Commerce departments that the sales of the RD-180 rocket engine — produced for export to United Launch Alliance, or ULA, a joint-venture between U.S. aerospace giants Lockheed Martin and Boeing — did not violate existing U.S. sanctions against Russia. The US will need ten years to produce a similar rocket engine of its own…

What Are Polish Death Squads Fighting For in Ukraine?

28.05.2014 | 00:00 | Nikolai MALISHEVSKI

On May 11 a plane arrived at Kiev’s airport in strict secrecy; it was met by the airport’s military personnel rather than the civilian staff. NATO military uniforms, 500 packages of amphetamines, and containers marked as poisonous substances were unloaded from the plane. By order of the Kiev directorate of the SBU, the fighters, the cargo and the containers of poison were not inspected and left the airport in cars with tinted windows. The cargo was accompanied by CIA agent Richard Michael. Aboard the plane were also fighters from the Right Sector and the Polish private military company ASBS (Analizy Systemowe Bartlomiej Sienkiewicz) Othago… The Poles have been participating actively in the formation of death squads in Ukraine since September 2013, when Foreign Minister R. Sikorski invited 86 members of the Right Sector to train at the police training center in Legionowo, 23 km from Warsaw…

Kiev Launches Genocide Campaign against Donbass

28.05.2014 | 00:00 | Olga SHEDROVA

On May 26 the Kiev junta abruptly intensified the combat actions as the punitive operation against Donbass proceeded. It was the first time when front-line aviation and artillery delivered strikes to destroy houses in the populated areas of the Donetsk region. The fighting was raging during the whole day near the city’s airport. Donetsk has population of some 1 million people. Attack helicopters and SU-25 fighters fired at the Donetsk People’s Republic self-defense formations deployed inside the city…

Ukraine and EU Integration… of Popular Revolt against Oligarchs

27.05.2014 | 08:52 | Finian CUNNINGHAM

It’s a sweet irony that declared winner of Ukraine’s presidential election, the billionaire «chocolate tycoon» Petro Poroshenko, proclaimed that his electoral victory «showed that people have chosen the path of European Union integration». Meanwhile, this week the people across the EU were voting in record numbers against the project of closer European centralization under Brussels. If Poroshenko is correct about Ukraine, which is doubtful, then the people of Ukraine are swimming against the popular tide in the EU where there is mounting disaffection with what is seen as overbearing governance by unelected bureaucrats in Brussels…

European Parliament Elections: Old Continent Turning Right

27.05.2014 | 00:00 | Elena PONOMAREVA

The European Parliament is the directly elected parliamentary institution of the European Union. On May 22-25, 2014 it held its first election after the Lisbon Treaty came into force on December 1, 2009… The election will go down in history as a stunning gain for Eurosceptics – the far-right demanding to curtail immigration flows, restore national boundaries and return the sovereignty of state. They want to leave the eurozone and adopt independent economic policy… The turn for the right in many EU member states reflects the rejection of globalist policy aimed at elimination of European traditional values related to the Christian faith, family and national homeland…

Ukraine: Doubts Cast on Election Results

27.05.2014 | 00:00 | Alexander DONETSKY

The winner of the presidential election race has not been declared officially as yet and the counting is still going on but the US President Barack Obama has already recognized Petro Poroshenko as the new leader of Ukraine no matter there are many doubts about the election results being trustworthy. First of all the decision to launch the preterm election was taken by the Ukrainian parliament under the barrel of a gun… The very fact of holding election in the country flooded with militants waging large-scale war against civilians puts the election result in doubt…

CIA Faces Purges as Situation Remains Tense in Ukraine

26.05.2014 | 00:00 | Nil NIKANDROV

…According to the «Washington Times», a senior CIA official died in an apparent suicide in early April from injuries sustained after jumping off a building in Northern Virginia. CIA spokesman Christopher White confirmed the death and said the incident did not take place at CIA headquarters in McLean, Va… One of the versions says the suicide victim wanted to escape like Edward Snowden did… His recent activities had been mainly centered on Ukraine… He knew the names of CIA operatives acting under cover including top junta officials. Having escaped, he could have used the information to his advantage. One of the bloggers conjectured that the dead CIA official wanted to explode «a new bomb» by publishing a scoop with new revelations about criminal activities of US special services but his intention became known…

The «Corker» in U.S.-Russian relations

26.05.2014 | 00:00 | Wayne MADSEN

Merriam Webster’s English dictionary defines a «corker» as an «amusing person». When it comes to drafting legislation to «punish» Russia with sanctions over the situation in Ukraine, Tennessee’s Republican Senator and ranking member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee Bob Corker certainly lives up to his name…

US Ukraine Policy Reaching Dead End

25.05.2014 | 00:00 | Nikolai BOBKIN

…The events in Ukraine are an action of intimidation staged by US special services. The whole regions are terrorized. If the process is not stopped it would continue after the May 25 election to match CIA planned scenario. The target to strike is Russia but it affects the leading countries of the European Union. It’s all done in the name of US «exceptionalism» and the belief in America’s greatness. This archaic faith in its outstanding role in the multipolar world leads the United States into the Ukrainian dead end…

The Crimean Frontier in World Development (II)

25.05.2014 | 00:00 | Alexander SALITZKI

…The caricature-like nature of the «national revolution» which was victorious in Kiev and the crudeness of the work of its outside financers and directors are as unprecedented as they are provocative. The audacity of the «democratizers» cannot but bring about major consequences… A new period in history, opened by the reunification of Crimea and Russia, demands non-standard political solutions from the leaders of the world’s leading countries. And in and of itself, this is an obvious reaction to the long, unceremonious and merciless offensive of Western neoliberalism… Russia’s Crimean manifesto may signify the beginning of a turbulent era in which world views and strategies can be overturned, political discourses and forms of government can change, and new ideologies and international borders can appear…
