The disproportionate impacts of COVID-19 on BAME communities are increasingly clear, compounding pre-existing truths about how minority groups are more likely to suffer from impoverishment, low pay, poor housing and ill health.
As a society, we must do all we can to recognise and rectify these deep injustices.
Write to your MP
Against this backdrop, the decision to remove sections containing first-hand experiences and recommendations from Public Health England’s report into the Racial and Economic Disparities of COVID-19 this week is incredibly concerning. To challenge this, we would encourage you to use this template letter to write to your MP to ask them to do all they can to ensure the report is published in full.
BBC News are also conducting a survey to understand the experiences of BAME doctors in particular ─ if you would like to contribute to this you can do so here (the deadline for this is midnight tonight): BBC News BAME doctors questionnaire.
