Kevin Gosztola is covering a major hearing in the extradition case against Wikileaks founder Julian Assange, taking place right now until September 24.

The COVID-19 pandemic means journalists face increased obstacles to travel that may result in diminished coverage.

Fortunately, Shadowproof’s Kevin Gosztola is waking up before dawn each day for the next three-to-four weeks to produce comprehensive coverage of this critical phase in Assange’s case, where witnesses will give testimony to challenge the request from President Donald Trump’s administration for extradition. But we need your help.

Earlier this year, Kevin traveled to London to cover a hearing where legal arguments against extradition were presented by Assange’s legal team. His coverage built on his past work covering Chelsea Manning’s military court-martial and set a standard by incorporating print, video, and live tweeting.

Kevin is not in London this time due to the COVID-19 pandemic. However, the court has set up a means for journalists to access video of the proceedings. Since the British court is prohibited by law from streaming proceedings to the public, Kevin is our eyes and ears for this next phase of this unprecedented case.
