[Prefatory Note: This post was initially published on the TRT World website on September 30th, having been edited by Shabrina Khatri. It has been modified to take account of subsequent developments in the region including the assassination of Hassan Nasrallah in Beirut and a widening onslaught against Hezbollah, while tensions mount with Iran. These developments have also affected the US relation to the conflict.]
Netanyahu’s bloody endgame seeks a future Israel with a Minimum Palestinian Presence
In the face of mounting global criticism, Israel is stepping up its military offensive in Lebanon, continuing its genocidal violence against the Palestinians and even intensifying its attacks on the Houthis in Yemen.
On October 1st, Iran launched scores of missiles at the Zionist entity, in response to the murder of Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah, among many brazen provocations and escalations targeting the Resistance in recent months. Voluminous footage of key Israeli infrastructure, including military and intelligence sites, being comprehensively flattened by the Islamic Republic’s inexorable onslaught has circulated widely, amply contradicting predictable claims emanating from Tel Aviv and Washington that the blitzkrieg was successfully repelled by Western air defence systems.
When Joe Biden, a key architect of the Obama administration’s “Asia Pivot” policy, became the US president in 2020 and introduced his Indo-Pacific Strategy in February 2022, his apparent objective was to make the region more “peaceful” and manage its seas according to accepted international “rules”.

A little-noticed report published September 19th by JINSA laid out how the Empire will be on the defence, and at grave disadvantage, in all-out hot war with Iran.

Dear friends,
Greetings from the desk of Tricontinental: Institute for Social Research.
Seventy-five years ago, on 1 October 1949, Mao Zedong (1893–1976) announced the creation of the People’s Republic of China (PRC). It is important to note that the Communist Party of China (CPC) did not name the new state the Socialist Republic, but instead called it the People’s Republic. That is because Mao and the CPC did not foresee China being immediately ushered into socialism; rather, the country was embarking on the road to socialism, a process that would likely take decades, if not a century. That was very clear to the people who began to shape the new state and society. The People’s Republic would have to be built out of the embers of a very long war, one that began when the Japanese invaded northern China in 1931 and that lasted for the next 14 years and took the lives of over 35 million people. ‘From now on our nation will belong to the community of the peace-loving and freedom-loving nations of the world’, Mao said at the first plenary session of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference on 21 September 1949. The new China, he continued, will ‘work courageously and industriously to foster its own civilisation and well-being and at the same time to promote world peace and freedom. Ours will no longer be a nation subject to insult and humiliation. We have stood up’.
Israel’s onslaught against the Palestinian people has systematically targeted children in both Gaza and the West Bank. The result is a war against an entire generation.

A year into the genocide in Gaza and the intensifying military and settler onslaught in the West Bank, children have been the most consistently targeted group by Israel in all of historic Palestine.

The maniacal alliance between the U.S. and Israel has exposed the sham of western democracy and the illusion of international law.

Admitting that South Lebanon constitutes a “quagmire” for Israeli troops, British Foreign Secretary David Lammy told broadcasters, “None of us want to return to the years in which Israel found itself bogged down in a quagmire in southern Lebanon.”
Lammy further warned, “The price would be huge for the Middle East, and it would have a significant effect on the global economy.”
Moreover, he called on all British nationals in Lebanon to leave the country, stressing that the UK government “cannot guarantee that they will be able to get people out of Lebanon in a speedy fashion” if the airport closes.

In a recent London Telegraph article titled, “The British travel bloggers ‘sugarcoating’ China’s Uyghur problem to the delight of Beijing,” readers are told that “more than one million Uyghurs are believed to be detained in re-education camps,” in Xinjiang and that Western tourists traveling to the region and seeing no evidence at all of this or other claims made by the Western media for years, are simply toeing the line of the Chinese government for clicks and cash.

Iranian ballistic missile direct hit in the middle of Tel Aviv

— ❗️🇮🇷 🇮🇷 Statement by the IRGC: ‘In the name of God almighty; as a response to the killing of Ismael Haniyeh, Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, and Abbas Nilforoushan, we targeted the heart of the Zionist occupying entity – if Israel responds, we will hit them a thousand times harder’

🇮🇷🇮🇱 Footage emerging indicates Iran has overwhelmed Israeli air defenses designed to down small numbers of slow, inaccurate rockets, not scores of precision guided ballistic missiles.
The US, using Israel as a proxy and encouraging its client regime to expand aggression across the region, has brought this upon the people in Israel, not Iran.
Iran is responding to the increasingly unhinged, unchecked, indiscriminate regional violence Israel (with full US backing) was carrying out, threatening Iran and its allies.
Iran has demonstrated tremendous restraint up until now.
But because Israeli policy does not reflect national self-preservation, further escalation is likely until circles of power in Israel interested in self-preservation take over.
In the kingdom of hypocrisies, Emmanuel Macron reigns supreme. While France claims to defend the values of freedom and democracy, its president perpetuates a colonial legacy in Africa, where French economic and political interests always take precedence over the aspirations of the people. Welcome to 21st-century “Françafrique,” where history is rewritten, and domination is disguised as cooperation.
The news that the border-free Schengen Zone is unravelling is scary news for the 420 million citizens living within the passport-free zone. What’s a hundred times scarier is the purposeful deconstruction of relations going on underneath. Most importantly, recent moves by Germany and proposals that remind us of past horrors will undoubtedly spell disaster.
