Victory! – for the Non-Resistance

by BAR executive editor Glen Ford

The More Effective Evil has trounced those Republicans with evil intentions. Folks who never made a single demand of the corporate, war mongering Democrat think they are some kind of victors. “The non-resisters have won a non-victory against an unimpressive enemy,” while Obama plots new atrocities.

by BAR managing editor Bruce A. Dixon

When a Bush, a McCain, or a Romney condones corporate crimes against the rest of us, lies to us, tortures and imprisons at will and murders civilians at a whim, it’s a moral disaster. When a black Democrat does it, it’s nothing personal, just business. And we are soooo proud. What’s wrong with us?

by BAR editor and senior columnist Margaret Kimberley

Hurricanes and other “acts of God” provide a dramatic stage for some of the ugliest – or most endearing – acts of man. “If there is any silver lining to this awful event it is showing the limits of politics and the need for grass roots organizing to meet public needs.”

Uganda threatened to pull out of the dirty war in Somalia unless it was afforded continued immunity for its mass murders in Congo. Washington is the Big Daddy of both bloodbaths. Within days, Uganda backed down, since a “withdrawal from Somalia would amount to going on strike against its employer, the United States.”

The arrangement whereby whites surrendered political control of South Africa, while continuing to dominate the economy, has become indefensible. “Workers seeking to organize outside the government-sanctioned unions are hunted down and prosecuted under spurious charges, physically tortured and vilified as enemies of the state.”

When black leadership gets its legitimacy from the oppressed, but its funding from the oppressor, this is what we get. We call it the Black Misleadership Class. And why was Davey D the only black media figure we heard even asking the question? Is this the Obama phenomenon trickling down — we don’t dare question our black “representatives” because…. because…. well…. why?

The U.S. Africa Command bills itself as a force for “humanitarian” intervention in Africa – but the only humans it serves are outside the continent. “The US has recently pushed itself into Libya, Uganda, Somalia, Sudan and elsewhere, and now has its eyes set on Mali.”

 by Damon Sajnani

Jay-Z has earned mountains of money from HipHop, but “his politics are diametrically opposed to the interest of Black liberation at home and abroad.” The music mogul identifies with an oligarchy whose interests are antithetical to Black liberation. “If the balance of one’s material promotes the interest of the oppressor, that rapper is not HipHop.

 by Randy Shields

The “Obama Phenomenon” is a world-class consciousness-destroyer, guaranteed to burn a hole in your soul. Millions of once-progressive minds have fallen victim to the scourge. “Obama users have turned on friends and colleagues who kept their principles regardless of which capitalist flunky commits the crimes.”

There is no Black Agenda Radio program, this week, due to the hurricane-related shutdown of production at the Progressive Radio Network. We hope to resume operations in time for next week’s show – Glen Ford and Nellie Bailey.
